I highly recommend Golden Triangle bike services if you’ve ever considered biking the GAP trail! This was a bucket list trip for us and the trip did not disappoint. Our group of 2 couples live in Florida so we relied on Golden Triangle for the complete trip planning. We told them what dates we wanted to go, how long we wanted to ride each day (we chose 4 days for the 150 mile ride) and they set up the rest. Aiden was great to work with and it could not have gone smoother. From the great bikes they set us up with that were individually fitted for us at the start, to the B & B’ accommodations that were set up for us along the way, the timely luggage transfers and a detailed itinerary of places to stop along the way with many suggestions for places for coffee, lunch, etc. Everything was great! We lucked out with good weather and lots of foliage and wildlife along the trail. It is truly an amazing ride and Golden Triangle was so easy and accommodating to work with, I will definitely be recommending them to everyone I in the area and use them again when we find ourselves back in Pittsburgh.

Four couples of us, all cycling friends, just finished a five day cycling trip on the GAP Trail. The trip was organized as specified by us, e.g. desired daily mileage, types of accommodations, bike rentals by Golden Triangle Bike. They were wonderful to work with, easy to communicate with, prompt to respond and made helpful suggestions. It was a wonderful trip! Everything went as planned and was implemented on time and efficiently, e.g. pickup of our luggage from each B&B. Our accommodations each night were unique and comfortable. Our visit to Falling Water was arranged by Golden Triangle and was a highlight of the trip. Our biggest problem was finding food each day, a combination of pandemic factors, end of season closings and just plain few choices to begin with in the very small towns along the way. This is no gourmet heaven but we didn’t expect that to begin with. Believe me, we didn’t starve. Our rental bikes including two e-bikes were good, well maintained bikes that suited the trail we were on. We were outfitted with everything we needed on the bike - helmets, odometers, tire patching kits and pump, roomy panniers, lights, etc. We also did a bike tour of Pittsburgh the day before our GAP trip also arranged by Golden Triangle Bike. It was informative, fun, and gave a good overview of Pittsburgh history. We would highly recommend Golden Triangle Bike for trips on the GAP Trail.

Dana and the whole team at Golden Triangle did a great job for us on the Gap ride. The ebikes were excellent and perfect for our trip. The day we picked them up everything was very professionally prepared and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Although we booked our own hotels, the staff was available to us for questions, and provided very quick and helpful responses each time we contacted them along the way. The ride itself was just as epic as expected, so much so that we were ready to start planning a double for the future (round trip Pittsburgh-DC-Pittsburgh. We have done through rides in Japan, New Zealand, Ireland and Austria. The GAP ranks right up there. Planning notes (1) we had always planned to do the ride in autumn, but the leafy springtime was amazing and is highly recommended. (2). We chose ebikes because that’s what we ride at home now and we enjoy them a lot. We wondered what distance the batteries would give on rental bikes. These Treks can do 50 miles or more without worry if you stay in Eco.

It is an excellent location and we took a beautiful bike ride on the city path, which was wide, smooth and easy to follow. The staff was knowledgeable about the area and about the equipment they rented. They were very COVID aware and careful.
I definitely recommend this activity.

Recently I rented an e-bike here for a trip from Point Park to Cumberland Maryland with a group of friends. Dana was excellent helping me make arrangements and then Tom, the owner, did a fantastic job fitting the bikes for both my sister and I. We had an incredible experience on their Trek e-bikes with excellent input and tips for the ride, and recommendations for food along the way. There were 10 of us on the trip and we cannot wait to do the rest of the trail from Cumberland to Washington ASAP. We came here from California and I’m so happy to have found this rental store. Our bikes were decked out with everything we could possible need along the way! Top of the line equipment! Thank you Golden Triangle Bike Rental for making this trip everything I thought it could be!!!!!

Unless this is the first review that you've read, you already know that Tom and team will supply you with a late model bike perfectly suited for the GAP and C&O. You know that Tom will fit your bike to you and give you a thorough checkout. You know that he will set up great accommodations at fun B&Bs. You know that turning the bike in in DC is quick and easy. You probably even know that the optional luggage transfer service works flawlessly and is an incredible luxury.
For something that you may not know, allow me to describe an experience that really puts G.T.B.R. on a whole different level:
Day 6 of our 10 day trip. Early Sunday morning. We're about 12 miles south of Cumberland, Maryland on the C&O. Our bikes had been working perfectly. Suddenly, my rear wheel locks up. The rear derailleur was tangled in the spokes and bent like a pretzel (possibly a stick hit the derailleur?). The bike was unrideable. No cell service. Clearly, our trip is ruined. How can you recover from a disaster like this in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday morning?
I got the bike pushable and started walking it back to a campground that we had passed a little more than a mile back. My wife rode ahead to the campground which had road access and marginal cell service. When I got there she said that she was able to reach Tom AND that Tom had arranged for Hutch, the owner of Cumberland Trail Connection, the bike shop in Cumberland to meet us. Hutch was there in 15 minutes, assessed the situation, agreed that any repair would take considerable time, and took the bike back to his shop. In a half hour he was back with a loaner bike from his shop (thank you Hutch). In a total of 2 hours from the time of the wheel lockup, we were back on the trail. We weren't even late for dinner. Incredible!
But wait...there's more...
Two days later, Tom meets us on the trail with a brand new bike and takes the loaner back to Hutch. It is impossible to imagine better customer service.
The GAP and the C&O are national treasures. We found it to be the trip of a lifetime. There's no better way to do it than a one-way rental from Tom. Do it!

Dana and Tom were both instrumental in helping us through an incredible ride from Pittsburgh to DC! The bikes were a perfect fit for us and were fantastic at handling both the GAP and the C&O towpath. Check in and drop off were both a breeze. Tom was very responsive when we had a slow and nagging front tire leak and made arrangements for a full front wheel/tire swap for us at the next town. Strongly recommend Golden Triangle for any and all of your Biking needs.

Aidan and Chris at GTB took great care of me. Flew into PGH and back home from DC so the extra air baggage costs and hassle of bringing my own bike with 2 assembly/dissassembly sequences plus schleping around town to find a bike box on the return home made a one way rental from GTB a no brainer.
Rented a nice Surly LHT which was perfectly set up for the ride. Brought my own saddle and side bags and GTB installed them on the rental. Did not use clip in shoes but the will change those out for you as well. Pick up took about 10 minutes and we were off. Drop off went like butter.
Definitely do this ride and hit up GTB...also pick up one of their Heinz Ketchup Water Bottles!
Cheers

Dana and the staff at Golden Triangle organized what was probably one of our best vacations ever! We biked the Allegheny from Pittsburgh to Cumberland.
Everything was seamless - the accommodations were all wonderful, the bikes were great with no issues at all, our luggage was waiting for us each afternoon, and the detailed itinerary and little tips they provided were perfect.
Thank you Golden Triangle for an amazing trip!

I wanted to thank Dana and the crew at Golden Triangle for an impressively organized cycling trip on the Allegheny Passage from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD. for myself and two of my friends. From the shuttle to Pittsburgh, which started our adventure, to the drop off of our well equipped bicycles in Cumberland, everything ran like clockwork. The B &B's that were arranged for us were lovely, and we could not have been more impressed with the stellar customer service provided by Golden Triangle.

Where do I pick up the bike and return it for a three day tour. Are hotels included inthe price?
I need a bike with a friendly seat for an old man over 6ft 3 inch.

The best way to contact them is to call. I don't know if it's possible to rent a bike and drop off at a different location. Just ask them.
