We spent the day at the science center which closes at 5 and we didn't want to go home during rush hour traffic. So we do decided to walk a half mile down the scenic north shore trail to the water steps. You have to...More

One afternoon I took my nieces and nephews here for a splash in the water. The steps look really nice at night as well. I saw two teens there shooting photos was pretty cool.

Not great in the winter months but it allows you to go in during the warmer months! Great place for kids to play

The steps are pretty and peaceful as long as there isn't a homeless person bathing in them. There are usually kids in it. Wouldn't trust the water though

Let me start with: The steps are NOT slippery. I have never seen any children get injured. Have you ever gotten wet on a water ride at an amusement park? Same kind of water. Let's all just calm down. We love the water steps! It's...More

Really cool looking steps, however it turns into the kiddie pool of Pittsburgh once it reaches above 70 degrees. At this fine watering hole, I have seen many young yinzers splash and cut their heads on these sharp steps. Never have made contact with the...More

Street parking is the closest. If your are traveling with another adult you could drop them all off and then go park at the Rivers Casino for free. It is just a short walk along the bike trail from the Casino to the water... More

We only have one full day in Pittsburgh and one of our stops will be the Warhol Museum. I was also interested in seeing the water steps. We will have a 7 year old with us and wondering if it's worth it and how far of a walk is it from the Museum?

Totally worth it. If nothing else, the walk along the river is pretty (and if you play Pokemon Go, it's great hunting grounds :)). It's only about .5 miles between them. Walk to PNC Park and take the steps down to the Nortn Shore/ Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Warning- people often wear bathing suits there bc you can get really wet. You can just wade too and skip the suits.
