Brief tour of the cathedral

It's a stunning structure. We could not see the Ukrainian room as it was being renovated. The main lobby was beautiful with so much gothic style architecture. Beautiful.

Building was incredible and the themed rooms were beautiful. Wandered for hours. Don't take the elevators, they took forever (had just been "upgraded" to a new algorithm I was told). Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

We brought our daughter to see the classrooms. I kept wondering what it must be like to be a student and sit in these rooms. Many of them were beautiful. The woodwork was especially fine. However, we had a hard time finding the place. The university needs more signs in front and brochures for people trying to find the classrooms... More

The Cathedral of Learning (love the epic name) is truly unique. There are several classrooms you can visit (the Nationality Rooms) which are set up and decorated according to classrooms of the great universities of old from throughout the world. You can't miss the building - it is huge and easily visible on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The rooms... More

The Cathedral of Learning was a must see for us! Make sure to check out the multicultural rooms--they're one-of-kind!! The building was beautiful and even more gorgeous in person.

Beautiful historic building. We visited during a tour of Pitt. Loved the international rooms & Hogwarts-like ambiance! A great place in which to roam or have a private rendezvous.

The views from the top floor of the Cathedral of Learning are truly breathtaking. The school just installed new elevators so the ride to the top is quick which is nice. Be sure to go on a clear day so you can see across the campus!

This is just a fabulous building, associated forever in my mind with the University of Pittsburgh. The architecture is fabulous. I just wish we could make it on a day they were having tours of the nationality rooms. We did take the elevator to the 36 floor to enjoy the view.

A very unique concept for classrooms arranged in a vertical tower. Well worth exploring the Nationality rooms, as they are all unique and decorated according to tradition of the country that they represent. The ground floor of the Cathedral Of learning is just like a hall out of a Harry Potter film. Take lunch or enjoy a coffee to appreciate... More

This is an interesting site, particularly the Hogwarts scale halls. It does harken back to an earlier age in academia, when lectures large and small were the primary mode of teaching. We visited during a school week, so most of the rooms dedicated to various nations were in use, but the ones we saw were interesting.
