Hi! We're having a great time at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and the only thing missing is you. MAKESHOP, our tinkering space, has real tools and materials such as wood, sewing machines, hammers, nails, a loom, animation station and more. Jump right in, that circuit isn't going to build itself! The Art Studio is calling for your creative energy to design and ink a silkscreen, paint, sculpt clay and create something unique alongside the many working artists who visit. Young ones, you are royalty in the Nursery, a space filled with colors, shapes and textures perfect for your growing minds and bodies. The Attic, Garage and Waterplay (because it's just not fun until your underwear is soaked) round out the permanent exhibits. But not so fast. From marching bands, slam poets and cultural traditions to letters that fall from the ceiling and a crawling maze made out of packing tape, our temporary exhibits, performers, programs, artists-in-residence and artwork are particularly awesome too. If we don't hear the protests of departing kids at the end of each day, we're not doing our jobs right.

We took our 2 year old granddaughter during the week and arrived early. Parking is easy but remember your license plate # as you need it for machine. The young lady at the admissions desk was very friendly and while checking in I noticed an agenda for the day that said there was a dance party for tots from 11... More

We were here a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Now that my son is 8 it is not as exciting anymore. This museum is more for smaller kids below 6 years old. The water play is fun and they also offer workshops for the kids.

Compared to some other museums, this one holds its own. It closes too early (or it was closing early to cater to an event) when we visited (5 pm) and there isn't enough seating for us old people to rest, but overall it's a good zoo. The animal exhibits are clean and well done. Nobody fell in. The animals looked... More

There is so much hands on for children to do that they can always find an open spot to explore. We went on a rainy day, so the museum was pretty crowded, but our 5 year old had a wonderful time sewing a pillow, doing several different types ofbart, building on a giant erector set and so much more. Her... More

We visited on a week day, which I have a feeling was a good idea. Crowds were not bad, even at the cafeteria at lunch time. My daughter is four, and it felt like she was pretty much in the sweet spot age-wise for this place. I can't see it being a huge amount of fun for kids older than... More

We've been to many Children's Museums across the country and this one is the best so far. This even beats the one in Indianapolis, which is much bigger! We got there around 1030 and didn't leave until 4:30 and the kids still didn't want to leave! Make sure you bring the Kids' bathing suit because the highlight of the museum... More

We've brought our young granddaughter here several times. She loves it and asks to go each time she comes to visit us.

Clean, interesting with "stand out" offerings over other childrens' museum such as the submarine and the SportsWorks.

This was great for our daughter but I don't know why adults have to pay so much since we pretty much just watch the kids interact. The activities are neat for kids, especially the splash room and the Daniel Tiger traveling exhibit. Some of the activities were over the heads of kids under 5.

Thank you for your feedback-- we hear your concerns regarding adult admission. We see family learning and play as part of our core mission and hope everyone who visits will find activities to participate in, learn from, and enjoy regardless of age. Researching how families learn from out-of-school spaces such as museums and libraries has been one of our foundational... More
