We visited Pittsburgh for the first time over Valentine's Day weekend. We signed up in advance to do the the Strip District "Bits and Bites" Food Tour on Friday and had such a good time we did the Lawrenceville Food Tour the following day.
Group size is limited to about fourteen which is manageable. Both Tour Guides were energetic, friendly & knowledgeable locals. The store and restaurant owners (6 or 7 on each tour) were genuinely welcoming and generous with their time and wares.
These tours are a great way to: 1) learn more about Pittsburgh's unique neighborhoods, 2) meet fun people and 3) sample a wide variety of tasty comestibles. Bravo!

My girlfriend and I were visiting Pittaburgh for the weekend and decided to do a tour of the Strip District. It was AMAZING!!! We got to visit shops serving authentic cuisine from multiple countries/ cultures, got to meet the shop owners, learned some great historical information about the area, and had some amazing samples. Our tour guide (Sylvia) was super nice and knowledgeable. If you want to really experience parts of the city, I strongly recommend you try this tour! We will definitely be back to tour with this group again.

Starting at the Commonwealth Print Shop, we were treated to a delicious warm pepperoni roll, both savory and sweet food from the Azorean Cafe, NY style pizza at Angelo’s, a Paddy Cakes’ cream horn, and some wine and pasta at Spill’s. Karen, our guide, gave us some history and insights into the neighborhood along with added info from one of the tour participants and passerbyers. Parking was easy, people were friendly, and the distance covered was short and flat. We went back to places along the way that our guide talked up but were not part of the tour. Great neighborhood; I can’t wait to go back.

Sylvia, our food tour guide, was very personable, and was knowledgeable about the area and had some fun stories. My husband and I live in the Pittsburgh area but had never been to Brookline - and we will go back! The tour took us to a Lebanese grocer/restaurant for pita and hummus, a couple of bakeries (cookie, biscotti, almond torte cupcake), a Mexican street taco stand, a place that provided pickled veggies, a coffee/tea shop, and a pizza place. Everything was really tasty - like, *really* tasty - and well paced. We felt safe as everyone wore masks and was distanced, and a majority of our time was spent outdoors eating. Recommend taking some kind of bag to hold your water and put your goodies in that you're too full to eat! 100% chance that we will do another tour, then another, and another...

Sylvia is a fantastic tour guide! Went all around the Strip District with her on a semi-rainy day, but she made it feel full of sunshine. We had delicious food and got to know the owners of many establishments we may not have otherwise visited. This was my second time doing a food tour and I know I will definitely keep coming back for more.

My husband and I took the Strip District tour on 2/14. Our tour guide was wonderful! We learned some fun facts and history of the city we love while enjoying delicious food samples. The group size was perfect (13 people). Great experience, definitely recommend.

I'm from Pittsburgh, but now live in the DC area. I wanted to show my daughter the city where I grew up, so I thought the Burgh Bits and Bites Food Tours would be an awesome way to showcase the city. I was right! My daughter, sister, and I did the Strip District tour and the Brookline tour. Our tour guides Karen (Strip District) and Cheryl (Brookline) did a fabulous job highlighting the history of each neighborhood and giving us lots of information about the food we sampled. Everything was delicious and the sample sizes were very generous! Some of the vendors told us the history of their establishments as well. During the Brookline tour, the owner of Pitaland took us in the back and let us see the machine where the pitas were made. We also got to try a full size pita with hummus fresh off the machine! This tour is perfect for those visiting from out of town, but it is also great for those familiar with the city. I learned some new things about the city where I was born and raised.

My husband is from Pittsburgh and has been to the Strip dozens of times. Today, however, we enjoyed seeing it from a new perspective! He and I both learned more about the history of his city with an interesting and informative mix of history, culture, architecture… and of course, FOOD! All the stops were delicious and we were stuffed by the end of it. Highly recommend, whether visiting from out of town or as a local!

My Family and I experienced a great time in Lawrenceville a couple weeks ago! The weather was horrible and pouring down rain. Despite the weather it was fantastic and our tour guide, Cheryl handled all aspects of the tour perfectly! I was so surprised by the variety of bites! We did not leave hungry! Thanks to Cheryl's knowledge we all learned a few new things about the neighborhood as well. Will definitely go back to Lawrenceville in sunny weather and I highly recommend Burgh Bits and Bites Food Tours!

Sylvia has been our tour guide on the Southside, Brookline and Strip District tours. Her subject knowledge, professionalism and commitment to the safety of her clients is second to none. The food, history and culture is truly an experience I’ll remember for a long time to come. Thank you Sylvia.
