The Botanic Garden is such a special place and truly a hidden gem. My kiddos really enjoy coming here and discovering nature treasures. The 17 year cicadas were out in full force- mostly just noisy but there were several flying around. The Japanese Garden is...More

This is a very pleasant walk in the woods but we were expecting flowers. The pond is nice. We didn't think that it was worth the trip out of the city though. If you want flowers, go to Phipps Conservatory.

In early June, My Wife and I visited the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. It is the height of the 17 year locust emergence and as soon as we arrived at the free, very convenient, ample parking lot, there was an unearthly hum seemingly coming from every...More

Beautiful grounds to visit and a real hidden gem of the area. We like to visit at different times of year because of the seasonal changes - it looks completely different in each!

I enjoyed walking in the Japanese garden. Although it is the beginning of winter you can still see the beauty it has. It gave me a chance to meditate and enjoy being with my friends.

Not really the botanic garden with lots of flowers like I was expecting. There were miles of trails and more of a wooded environment in the area I saw. It would be very nice on a fall day. There was a nice area in the...More

As others have stated, parts of the botanic garden are still under construction. And while I also agree about there not being an overabunce of flowering gardens, there is still some pretty cool areas to explore. I especially liked how certain trees had descriptions about...More

The Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is a work in progress reclaiming the land in a thoughtful plan. It has areas for kids to explore and discover nature. The Japanese Pond is a delightful place to relax. Wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.
