Lake Erie Winery Tour

This tour is guided by a native of Erie Pennsylvania and not only includes a wine tasting, but also a historical narration of the areas we visit. This tour is educational and highlights some of the best Erie has to offer but is meant to be fun as well. We'll enjoy the scenery, wine, chocolate, and each other's company along the way!

We stopped in while in the area having visited a couple of times before. Prior to the current public health situation, we had been in the cellar/lower level. This time there was seating on the screened porch. It was very quiet when we were there..we got a couple of flights and then some cheese. The variety of wine options is good.

We each got a flight of 4 wines...$3 for each of us. What a deal. With the pandemic safety precautions, they are required to offer food, we were required to purchase at least two items. So we bought a package of cheese curds made in New York and a package of pepperoni made in Buffalo, NY. It was the best pepperoni I have ever eaten. We asked for the packages to be unopened so we could save them for later. Evidently we're not actually required to consume them. Back to the wines. Very good. I actually surprised myself with their Niagara...a grape I usually consider too much like concord to be worthy of consideration. They do something different with it, though, and it was quite tasty.

Long established winery in a historic location. This is in a cellar and is quite beautiful. Ken, our server made it even nicer with his knowledge of the wines and the region. This is an interesting and a must see winery. Oh yes, great wine and not expensive.

A very interesting place to visit as far as history in general. A nice variety of wines to try from South Shore and Mazza since they are connected. Opted to try more of the Penn Shore wines since we have had Mazza at home shows and we are able to purchase some of Mazza wines at our local wine and spirits shop.Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Was glad to see that they ushered a bride to be and her posse into a private tasting area. We had followed them at another winery and the large group took over the tasting area and it was just overwhelming. Nice option for a larger group to have their own space.

This is a definite must-visit. As other reviewers have said, the stone cellar is gorgeous and very "olde worlde". The tastings were quite affordable and the young woman on staff made it enjoyable. (She is a preschool teacher with summers off.)
