Not as good as it was in the past.

We haven't been here in several years. I remember the wine being really good last time. So, it seems that the wineries in the Erie area have turned away from a real wine tasting and on to flights. I'm ok with flights, but I'm not ok with them being in plastic! Do you realize how much waste you're producing??? We were very disappointed in the fact that you did not offer a real wine tasting! I expect a tasting to be done in a real glass, so that I can taste the wine properly. Instead, you have me fill out a form at a bar that looks like a smoothie bar, tell me to sit down and you bring me a flight in plastic cups. And, I'm not told about the wine at all. Part of a wine tasting is hearing about the wine, where it's from and all that jazz. It's lazy to not use glasses. I know that you have them. Plastic is horrible! If you feel the need for plastic, at least use composable cups!

Among My Favorites in North East and They Have Zweigelt
Jun 2021
This was my second trip to Courtyard. Once again it did not disappoint. Their wines are a bit more expensive than others nearby. The wines are also of good quality and they have a few varieties you cannot get elsewhere, namely the Zweigelt. Our bartender was very pleasant and talkative. We enjoyed meeting him and chatting while tasting. The indoor and outdoor seating is lovely and cozy. Everything is accessible and the restrooms are clean.

A bit disappointing

In my opinion, the chief reason to visit a winery is to stand at the bar and talk to a knowledgeable employee about the wines being offered. Unfortunately, when we were here a combination of large crowd and seeming understaffing made it impossible to talk about their wines. Tasting samples very reasonably priced.

Great wine tasting

Family and I stopped by for a quick tasting. The staff was very helpful. We got our wines and enjoyed the outdoor seating, which there was plenty of. Tasty wine.

Wines to carry inside well past your own courtyard.

You KNOW how disappointing bad wine is. But you will never be disappointed with the oenologist's delights served up at the Courtyard. This winery features wines -- red, white, blush --- ranging from dry to quite sweet. Something for everyone's taste and the tasting fee is reasonable. We only wish they would rebate the fee on a purchase of $50.00 or more on their fine wines. Stock your cellar and be sure your butler knows your preference.

Jewel of Erie Wine Country

Such a delightful winery! I have tried other wines from this winery at farmers markets in my city, but had never been to the winery itself. Finally, I took a trip with my sister in law, mother in law, and sister to Erie’s wine country. This was a must on all of our lists, and we weren’t disappointed. It was by far our favorite, and the wines were wonderful. Chocapelli has been a favorite of mine and my husband since a wine festival in our home city, and I was thrilled to bring him home a new favorite, Lazy Daze. Well worth the trip, and my favorite winery.

Excellent experience

Loved this winery. My husband and I did a wine tasting with Roger. He was totally the most informative person who ever served us at a winery. Also, the red wines were uniformly excellent. Would definitely return the next time we’re passing through Lake Erie Wine Country.

Courtyard Winery is Great!

Visited for a tasting and met Anthony. This was the day before wine fest in the area, so I would have predicted they would be kind of busy in prepping. However, Anthony was already prepped for what he needed to do for this weekend and helped guide usc through samples of sweet wines. This guy is awesome! He actually interacted with us (most wineries in the area don’t really interact, just pour samples). He was super helpful and we felt so comfortable and welcome.

A huge plus to this place is that they have chairs! Surprisingly most wineries around this area don’t, so tasting is rushed and uncomfortable.

We came from Ohio and will definitely be back!!

One of the best PA Lake Erie wineries

High quality wines, friendly staff. This isn't really a place to hang out, they don't have food or a view, but it is worth stopping for the wine.

All the wines were 'clean' with no off-tastes (sometimes a challenge in this region). Range of wines including dry or sweet. Even a port! Staff was knowledgeable (we were there on a weekday, not sure if weekend would be same) - also sometimes a challenge in this region.

Surprisingly drinkable dry wines
Jul 2019 • Friends
We went up on a Sunday afternoon just to hit this winery. We had a certificate that The winery had donated and we won in a charitable auction.
The tasting room is that up with two separate areas. One for sweet wines and one for dry. If you are used to drinking wines from California I recommend the dry wines. The sweet wines are very popular in this region but actually made me nauseous because they are so incredibly sweet. We had tastings of dry , Which we got to select from numerous options. Then we had a tour of the inner workings of the winery. Followed by a pairing of chocolate and very sweet wines. Anthony, our tour guide and tasting room attendant, was extremely knowledgeable, talked a lot about the process and the wines as well as the region. It was an enjoyable two hours.
