Great guided tour
Oct 2019
Normally only open on weekends, we scored a private weekday tour for the 4 of us for a donation to the New Hope Historical Society. Our docent was fantastic as is the house itself. Never out of the Parry family before it was bought by the Historical Society, it has each room set up to represent a time period: Colonial, Empire, Victorian, etc. Period furnishings, wall covering, art work and more. One of the nicest house museums we've seen, among many. Tour starts with a short video which is also well done...and entertaining.
Right in the middle of New Hope so lots of lunch or dinner options afterwards.

Intriguing little mansion to view with an excellent tour guide
Sep 2019
We stopped here for an impromptu tour and it ended up being a delightful way to spend an hour. The tour guide was extremely thorough and engaging and her knowledge of the Parry family and this mansion is quite extensive. We learned quite a few things about Pennsylvania and American history in such a short time. The house is beautiful and has numerous original artifacts, furniture, artwork, and household items. If you love history and visiting old buildings and hearing the stories about the people that make up our past, then you will love this mansion.

Very Cool Old House
Sep 2018
Tours are only available on weekends. No need to make a reservation. It's a pretty cool old house. I love the built-ins in the rooms, and thekitchen on the first floor. Upstairs bedrooms aren't as interesting. No admission fee when I visited.

Historic Mansion in New Hope
Jul 2019
We took a guided tour of the historic mansion on a recent visit to beautiful New Hope, PA. The house was beautifully curated, with different rooms representing different periods of the house's past, and the guide was appropriately informative and entertaining. A hokey (but watchable) video serves as an introduction to the Parry family and the home prior to the tour. And at tour's end, there is a room devoted to the history of the nearby Bucks County Playhouse (which is on land once owned by the patriarch of the Parry family), replete with photos and memorabilia of stars who have graced the Playhouse's stage. Definitely worth a stop on any visit to New Hope.

Disappointment
May 2019 • Couples
I had every intention of touring the Parry Mansion today, but when I approached the house, I saw swarms of yellow jackets in the front year! Instead, I toured New Hope itself and browsed at the shops and galleries. As for the town of New Hope, I would give it a high rating, but not the Parry Mansion. Nevertheless, one can see the interior rooms on their website.

Home of the Historical Society

Yes, this this attraction is a trip back in time, but more importantly it is a source of many educational opportunities. The tour guides will take you to each room in the house and describe the contents. Each room reflects a separate time period. It keeps your attention to note the differences. The Parry Mansion also sponsors main educational lectures from local and well known experts in their field. Our favorite room was the kitchen. The main focus of the room was the hearth and fireplace where family meals were prepared in years past. Cookware and period dishes were available for view. In the kitchen was a washtub for the ritual Saturday bath. Why the kitchen? Hot water was easily accessible and in the winter, the kitchen was the warmest place in this two story five bedroom stone house. This museum was lovingly curated for the many visitors who stop by. Please visit if you are in town.

Historic house surrounded by history and quaint atmosphere

I went on the tour with my boyfriend and my mother. The guide was very informative and brought back a turn of the century lifestyle that could be easily envisioned from the hand selected and hand placed stone façade to the earthy smells of age and design.

Simply Stunning!
Aug 2018 • Couples
My wife loves history so a visit to to the Parry Mansion was a must stop on our day trip to New Hope. The tours are free but there is a donation box to help preserve the mansion's amazing history. The introductory video and the guided tour of the first and second floors gave us a wonderful knowledge base of Benjamin Parry and his contributions to the town. Our tour started out as a group of 8 but for whatever reason the other couples left the tour after just three rooms so we had the rest of the tour to ourselves. Highly recommend a visit if you are in town.

Wonderful mansion to tour!!
Sep 2018 • Couples
We love to tour historical homes so stopped in here after lunch and Joan was our docent for the tour, this home is very well preserved and Joan is very informative of the different time periods and generations who lived here. We enjoyed her talk and tour so much and learned some things about the area and way of life in this home over past couple hundred years. This is a free tour but donations are accepted and we gladly donated since historical staff did great job researching and giving tours of this mansion. Thank you very much for taking care of this historic home and the tour!
