Asdequate mall
Mar 2021
Have been here years ago and have now returned. A big change and not for the better. Fewer stores now with more empty spots. Decent food court. Outer buildings better than in the past. Good selection of stores. Still better than many malls which are near closed or are closed. Adequate parking. Will return.

Nice mall with some SERIOUS movie fame!

I like this mall. Good variety and the glass elevator is pretty cool. It's a Westinghouse from 1984 and it has a unique shape of glass back. Back in '84, this was to emulate a telephone pole and replaced an ice-skating rink. This mall is also famous for its role in the 1978 film "Dawn of the Dead" My only complaint: no photography or videography without management approval per rule #23 on the Behavioral Code of Conduct. Other than that, this famous mall is AWESOME to hang out in

Large Enough to Be Interesting and Small Enough to Have a Family Day

This mall is a great standby, east of Pittsburgh. It has a cinema and very eclectic shops. Just beware of your surroundings.

A few gem's at the mall. Wondering if Macy's is closing...
Jan 2020
I was around when the mall first opened. Although it doesn't have a nice skating rink with a restaurant next door, there are a few gems.

It is still nice to go there for a haircut, a facial, a movie, a massage, clothes or jewelry and it is nice to have a Barnes and Nobles nearby.

However, with that said, I rarely go the the mall at night anymore. You have to be aware of your surroundings.

I would hate this to become just another "Ghostown Mall".

Enjoyed myself at the mall but I noticed a lot of empty stores. Sure hope it doesn't end up like Century 3 mall.

some good, some bad
Aug 2019
This mall is 40 years old and it shows. There are a number of empty store fronts. The floor shows signs of wear. And it was nearly empty when we went on Saturday night.

the good:
-- Gloria Jean's coffee
-- Inexpensive movies (although we didn't see any, so I can't speak to the quality)
-- really nice Barnes & Nobel's in the outer part.
-- rolled ice cream -- who doesn't like ice cream?

the bad:
-- lots of empty stores.
-- not many customers. I'm not sure how it is surviving.
-- lots of kids. (that may not be bad if you like that. But ti was loud)

the ugly:
-- it's 40 years old and showing its age. Everything worked -- doors, escalators, etc. But it all rattles. The floors are showing signs of wear. And the layout is a bit confusing. Very different from the more modern places today.

The Monroeville mall has many vacant stores and was not very busy. The shops left look ok . It looks like the these days people shop elsewhere

A must see for fans of Romero's Dawn of the Dead (and a great Mall for shoppers)
Apr 2019 • Solo
Travelled from England to visit the filming location of the classic 1979 film Dawn of The Dead and was not disapointed. Lovely to see they have put up a bust of George A. Romero since his sad passing which is on ground floor right side by Dick's Sporting Goods. On the top floor near front entrance on the right side (next to Macys) are 3 large framed pictures taken at the time of filming, 1 of which shows Romero and co producer Dario Argento but is incorrectly labelled. It is very evocative walking around, the building has changed of course, but it is the building and the exterior is also worth a walk around as will give movie flashbacks.

There are 3 shops that sell items/ activities related to film. Cash in Culture on ground floor near Macys sell various zombie themed T shirts and Dawn of The Dead merchandise. Directly opposite is Zombieburgh Laser Tag, which is awesome fun. Finally SoKool on 2nd floor sells variety of T Shirts including 1 lovely DOTD one.

As to the Mall itself, it has an amazing cinema with adult tickets starting at $4, a varied food court selling loads of different things to eat. Parking is free and is on all sides of the Mall, depending on where you want to visit. Within grounds is a Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, cool gaming shop focusing on Magic and other playable card games, a go kart arena and Red Robin restaurant. I found it freindly at all times and well worth the time and money spent getting here.
