We visited the fort in June 2015. The staff was super friendly. The fort is open and allows for exploring at your own pace. The grounds as well maintained and all of the staff is very knowledgable. It was a great addition to our yearly trek to the Laurel Highlands!

I am not going to lie, I was apprehensive at first about visiting Fort Ligonier, I assumed most of it would be reproduction and exhibits just giving a visual of this history. However, upon arriving I was instantly impressed and blown away. All of these original structures along with the historical exhibits were extremely fascinating. I was still in awe... More

The museum was very interesting and full of history; the fort seemed to be very authentic. It will be even better after the construction/renovation is done

I had some business clients visiting for a week from the mid-west and they asked if we had time to see any of the local historic sites in the area. We have already done some of the others I since I knew they were big history buffs they would really enjoy learning something new and oh boy did they. Their... More

Don't understand the Seven Year War or how the French Indian War fit into the picture. Go to this museum. The exhibits on the inside are wonderful and give a lot of show and tell. The fort has been reconstructed but unable to go up to it as it was raining. Sorry to have missed it. Rut rain or shine... More

We have lived in Ligonier for nearly three years and decided it was time to visit the fort! We went early before it got too crowded. There was enough to see keep a family interested and engaged. After visiting the fort, come to historic Ligonier Beach pool just about one mile further on Rt 30.

A fantastic museum with lots of great historical information about the French Indian War and the Seven Year War that included the American colonies, Europe, Asia, and Western Africa. The Fort reconstruction is also interested and there's a great view of the area from the top of the fort. Well worth a visit if you like history.

Fort Ligonier is probably the best preserved pre- revolutionary war Fort to be found. It has been extensively research, preserved, and reconstructed. In its day, it was a major logistics base for the British Army in their campaign against the French Fort Pitt (in Pittsburgh). It was built after the disastrous Braddock expedition against Fort Pitt, launched from Fort Cumberland.... More

This visitor's center is very clean and neat with many artifacts that one would not expect in a small town. Most impressive! I understand that they are in the throes of more expansion and have a lot more artifacts to display from some of their digs. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The fort outside was well maintained and the... More

Excellent place to learn a lot of history about George Washington and the French and Indian war. Ligonier is full of history and in a beautiful setting.
