It was raining when I did my tour. I thought that I would be actually seeing the Amish people in their houses. But that's okay. I got to see a glimpse of what their houses will look like inside the House Tour, how their clothes look like, the rooms, the kitchen, and even for when there is a funeral. It amazes me how, in this modern, wasteful world, there are still people who value frugality. And this frugality is turned into an asset by way of entrepreneurship. I especially appreciate how my questions about winter has been answered: how they go to school when there is snow, and how they keep themselves warm.

The bus tour, by coincidence, was a great help, as I had a painful time walking due to sprain of my hip from walking the previous day. I was able to see the community life: school, church, farm, workhouse (for the blacksmiths), and horse-and-buggies we met throughout the trip. I learned of the fact of how a buggy would look like based on the passengers in it. Rumspringa was also explained. I was amazed the see the Dutch Belted cows (aka the Oreo cows, and as per another traveler when he described the brown belted cows, the 'S'mores cows'. The tour guide loved the term, and she'll use it from then on), as well as the cows which I thought were Texas Longhorns (I could be wrong). I was also amazed how they were able to harness technology to suit their needs.

When I did the house tour, I didn't expect to see alpacas!!!! Yey!!!

This tour made me travel back in time. Yet, it also made me realize that the Amish way of life is a countertrend to what modernism teaches: those who do not accept progress fail to thrive. The Amish people have used history and progress to their advantage to keep life as it is and has been.

As a local in - town resident, attending the Christmas Cookie Tour is something I highly recommend visitors from near and far to experience. It includes going to a few different Amish family homes tasting home made cookies, and you can bring home cookie recipe cards as well bring home a bag of freshly baked cookies. It’s a great way to experience how the Amish culture celebrates Christmas from the general English(non-Amish) population. This gives to show every culture celebrates Christmas in their own unique way.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Amish Farmhouse visit and tour. First, we walked the grounds with a very organized self guided tour. We then took a 90
Minute bus ride with stops at an Amish quilt shop and Amish General Store. Our bus driver was pleasant and very knowledgeable. We then met our house tour guide, Tim. He took us through the house and explained a lot about the Amish people and their traditions. Tim was very pleasant and engaging. We visited the wood-shop where we met a lovely gentleman named Mr. Cris Lubkemann. His shop was filled with beautiful hand carved creations. We purchased one of his carved pieces and he personalized it for us by burning into the wood. He’s a very talented man. He also gave us one of his manuals as a gift. His shop is a must visit! Afterwards, we purchased and ate a delicious barbecued chicken meal prepared by the young Amish folks at the farm….complete with the homemade whoopie pie and homemade rootbeer!
It was a wonderful experience!

Had a fantastic bus your with Tim! He was very personable and knowledgeable- often giving us little anecdotes about passerby and people who lived in houses we past. Can really tell he loves getting to know people of the area and conveying the spirit of the amish in his tours. Originally, bought the classic bus package, but my parents were so interested in seeing/learning more that we added on the farmhouse tour as well! The whole property was really family friendly, with farm animals and playgrounds and had food onsite as well. I'll be coming back when my kids are older and for that apple cider milk shake!

We entered just wanting to browse the store but somehow we got corralled into buying tour tickets. The brief lecture part was interesting but the house tour, discussion and walk through was not worth the cost. It was cold and dreary so walking through the farm area was not something we wanted to do but is available after the home visit. There is also an add on that takes a group on a bus tour to some pre approved Amish Folks homes and a roadside store. We found those things on our own and explored the area without shelling out money. We found some nice, quality made (Amish pride and workmanship) items that we bought for our home. We enjoyed our visit and would like to go back some day during nicer weather and better time of year.

Thanks for your recent visit! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the guided house tour and learned a few new things about the Amish. We are proud to be America's first educational Amish museum, with the purpose of educating the public about the Amish. The weather surely did put a damper on your day, the farm is so beautiful in the Spring, Summer and Fall but winter days can be quiet dreary. If you're in Amish Country again, we'd suggest stopping by when we have Amish artisans and crafters for you to interact with.

We loved our bus tour with driver Annie (or Anne?). She was so knowledgable, answered all our questions and we felt like we got a lot of value for our money. We did not do the house tour due to time constraints but did head down to the barn where the staff let us hold 4 day old baby goats!! What a thrill to top off a wonderful experience! Highly recommend and would go back with any new visitors to the area! Five stars!

Well worth a visit to start off your understanding of these lovely people as the guide walks you through the house bringing you up to speed with their way of life.
The exhibits outside however a bit of a let down apart from the school which we found fascinating.
Great place to start your journey of discovery before you go onto either the bus tour around the farms or pop into Lancaster for a buggy ride.

Not disappointed by the afternoon. Had tour of house and very enlightened by the way of life, no electricity and working the land. We also took the tour of Amish Country in the mini- bus - recommended except for stopping off at a farm shop and ice-cream restaurant.

This is my third time visiting the Farm. I have enjoyed it every single time! The first two times, it was with my husband and we just did Goat Yoga and walked around a bit. It was lovely. This third time, I brought my Niece, her son, my brother and sister in law...We did yoga in the early afternoon and spent the rest of the day just walking around, visiting with the animals, feeding our faces on the most delicious food I've had in quite some time. The baby goats were the highlight of the trip. Although they were a bit young to really participate in the yoga, it was still a lot of fun to watch them play. We will be back in about a month for another session of yoga, and will be bringing more people. Thank you ALL for being as gracious and welcoming.

It sounds like you filled an entire day with FUN and baby goats. You saw and experienced the best parts of the farm- from the BBQ barn food to feeding the animals. The first few weeks of goat yoga are very special, as the goats are still young and love to jump around and play. In July-August they like to climb and jump on people more. We can't wait for you to experience it again when they are 2 months old!

This trip was terrific. We took the bus tour and our bus driver, Tim, was absolutely great. He shared tons of information about the Amish community with us. He was very personable and it was a pleasure to be on his bus. The house tour was very interesting. Martha did a great job of explaining the home of a typical Amish family.
