Go for the show, not the food
This is our first time back to Dutch Apple after many years. Whenever we come to Lancaster, we try to include a stop at Dutch Apple. This trip was to see Newsies. It was an entertaining show. The buffet food is so-so. But you need to know it is not going to be 'restaurant-quality'. They have better food at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord. However, think of the food as secondary. The show is the main attraction. We were very pleased with Newsies. Very entertaining. Hope to return during the Christmas season.

DADT Children's Shows are fun for the whole family!
This was our second time attending one of the children's theatre lunches at Dutch Apple and it was just as wonderful as last year's experience!! We got there around 11:30 to get our tickets, the buffet lunch opened at about 11:45. I can't speak of the dinner shows, but the lunch shows for kids is very KID FRIENDLY food i.e. things like chicken nuggets and corn dogs, cup cakes etc. There is a good salad bar, coffee, etc. Staff is very quick to keep food available, clear your plates, refill drinks etc. Overall we enjoyed the food and it's a fun part of the experience - I definitely recommend getting the lunch + show ticket rather than just the show. You are sitting at your table during the show which started at around 12:45. They chairs are padded and comfortable, we simply turned them to face the stage so our necks wouldn't give us trouble. The sound, the singing, the dancing, set, acting, etc was all top notch! Just terrific performances by all!! This was a summer show and I believe involved the children's theatre camp program, so had some younger actors, as young as 11!! They all did so great, we just loved it!! After the show, and I'm not sure if this is common, but they had a Q&A on the stage so kids (and adults) could ask questions to the cast, and after that the cast came out to the lobby and outside so you could take photos and talk to them. SO COOL! My kids, myself, my husband, and my parents all just absolutely loved this entire experience. Can't recommend this place highly enough, whether you live in the area or just come for vacation like we do every year!!

Escape to Margaritaville is a blast!
Our first visit to Dutch Apple Theatre and we loved it. We saw Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville. This is a great show, whether or not you’re a parrot head. My husband and I are Buffet fans and our daughter hardly knew any of his songs, but we all thought it was a great show. The costumes, the sets, the choreography, and those voices: wow! Fabulously fun! I’d go see this show again tomorrow!

    Ten Star Entertainment!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saw an exceptionally wonderful show ~ “Escape to Margaritaville“! The recent passing of Jimmy Buffet made this even more special! The cast was amazing…and the music and singing were dead on! The theatre itself is quite nice with ample room between tables and waitress was very attentive. The dinner buffet was outstanding! Prime Rib, Chicken, Cod, Ribs and more. Salad and Dessert options were also amazing! Many upcoming presentations to choose from and easy to find! Highly recommend a visit!!!

Fantastic Time with Great Food and an even better show!!!
My wife and I attended Escape to Margaritaville for our anniversary. There was only two small issues I had; they mispronounced our name for the list of anniversaries (our last name is McManus they announced us as McMan) and one of the waiters, by the name of Brian, went off on one of his coworkers in front of the entire room. I felt terrible for the young man he humiliated. Aside from that, the food was amazing. (Especially the cod!!) It was hot, delicious, and always full. The show itself was amazing!! I'm a lifelong Buffett fan, i've been to 26 concerts, but it was my first time seeing this production. The cast was fantastic. In fact, my wife and I tried listening to the original cast album on the way home and found we preferred the production we had just seen better. We already have plans on coming back for Valentine's Day. Excellent job!!

    Another great show
We have visited Dutch Apple many times. We are never disappointed. Usually they serve a buffet style dinner, however on this visit they served from a menu, and brought it to the table. Dinner was very good, service was efficient, and the show (Escape from Margaritaville) was excellent... Highly recommend Dutch Apple Dinner Theater.

Small, very well done with awesome actors and actresses
Small but roomy, 4 at a table is a little tight, but worth it. Sat right up front and was blown away by it. Actors and actresses were amazing!!!!!! Music was also very good. Timing for everything was well planned. The food was good, salad bar was very fresh. Pretzel crusted chicken was not great, tortilla crust fish was good, brisket was good. Veggies were tolerated. Service was very good.

Traveling to Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, at night, is very difficult going on 30 W. It is dark, there are forks, you really have to follow the signs or end up on 30 E or elsewhere. Upon getting there you have to make a quick right and get into the left lane and then just before the gas station make a left across traffic up a hilly side street. It can be dangerous and stressful until you get there.
Once there it is very nice. There is a smorgasbord buffet with a variety of items as chicken and pork, vegetables and salad and of course dessert with or without ice cream.
The table settings are well arranged and the staff does what they can to assist requests as for example brown meat that is too rare on the plate they can brown it up for you upon request. Liquor drinks are served for a fee as is Pepsi at 2.50 or so a glass.
Always well done acting and performers though the jokes could be tuned up from the MCs. They give a run of what shows are coming up and then the show starts. Interesting how they adapt the scenery and simple but adequate costumes. There had been a movie with the same name and story line, called The Holiday Inn, with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. But it was a fresh story for me. I liked the effects of the incorporated black and white film version. It was nice to watch something not only on live stage, and something so rare these days, with a happy ending.
Around 11:30 pm or so they came around with hats and noisemakers. Ok, so we are not children, but the whole effect of having hats and noisemakers, can be fun; but was not, because they did not have enough hats to evenly go around and then it's an issue who gets and who doesn't.
In the past they had balloons and confetti and since, have done away with it. The least they could have done was check the count of men and women and made effort to purchase enough to go around. For goodness sakes. Had I known, I would have brought my own. So one less star for whoever didn't address purchase properly.
Oddly enough 30 E once you're out and find the entrance becomes an easier straight away back. While we are glad we went, whether we go back again next year or not, I may search out a new venture for next time.

Mama Mia was a great show with wonderful singing, dancing and acting. However, although their website says they strongly recommend mask wearing when not eating, we were the only ones wearing a mask. There was no way to know if we were surrounded by unvaccinated patrons or not so although we were fully vaccinated we were very uncomfortable during the evening, especially with all the breakthrough infections. There was also no social distancing in the lobby and no announcement was made before the performance regarding masking. It is unfortunate with such an outstanding show that at least some COVID precautions were not being taken. Kudos to the cast and servers who were all masked.

Don't presume that the show is family friendly. I just saw Rock of Ages. It was "rated" PG-13, but it should have been "R" for raunchy. I was sorry to have brought my 14 year old son; he got an eye and earful. The food was decent, but the seating is tight. Unless you are a party of 4 or 8, you will likely be seated with others. The actors and actresses had impressive voices, but the acting was cheesy...though that could be because the play was written just to tie a bunch of random 80's songs together. It's too expensive for what it is. For the same price (or close to the same price), you can get tickets to Sight and Sound for a truly amazing and unique theatrical experience minus the buffet.

Theater just reopened. Watched Clue the Musical. Didn't know what to expect from the show. Never thought of a board game as a musical. It was very well done. They even incorporated keeping 6 feet apart and wearing masks in the show. The theater took out some of the tables. Marked the floors. Still had buffet. You pick out what you want to eat and a server puts it on your plate. Temperatures were taken as you enter the theater. Several announcements were made that masks must worn when not eating. Must be worn at all times. The actors wore face shields that matched their costumes. Very impressed. Great job!

I was there for the "Mamma Mia" show.
Dinner: The food was ok. The main dishes were overcooked. (Eggplant parm (burnt on top), prime rib (too well done), chicken (dry)
The show was good, but sitting in the chairs through a dinner service and a two hour show was tough. The chairs are not comfortable.
Very little mask wearing, no distancing, although the actors wore face shields. I wore my mask and I'm glad I was vaccinated.

First time at this dinner sow & buffet and they did not disappoint. Their COVID protocol was very well executed, and they were on top of keeping you safe. Foos and service was very good, and the show was great. They mentioned it was the only theater in America open for business right now, never said why, but we felt safe while eating and watching the show. Kudos to all the staff and entertainers at the theater.

Scott Moreau, as Johnny Cash, gives a superb performance. This is a lively upbeat concert which is further enhanced by the additional personnel information he provides on Johnny Cash.

The meal was very good and the Covid19 protocol was carried out in a manner that made you feel safe. The changes to protect everyone while still providing an excellent entertainment value should become the new normal.

Congratulations to the staff, performers and owners of the Dutch Apple on a job well done!

Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre is a fun way to spend an evening in the area. The food is fair, the reason for 4 stars; however, the entertainment is excellent. The buffet is basic food which was not my favorite. The shows are great. This time we saw "Mama Mia." The vocals were beautiful, costumes fun and colorful, and acting very good. The women who played Sophie and Donna were awesome!
