Great for toddlers

We took a quick trip here while staying in Lancaster. It was small, but perfect for my 2 year old boys who had a great time. Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly.

Terrible.
Feb 2021
Terrible experience! I took my husband, my adult daughter who was home visiting for the weekend and our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. Everything was broken! It was such a disappointment. The crappy New Holland tractor was busted; none of the gauges worked. The grand baby couldn't wait to milk the cow but the milking machine was hot glued to the cow's utters and couldn't be used! The robot machine didn't fully articulate and acted like it was on it's last leg. The light/bright machine was missing most of its colors. The bucket that hoists hay bails had a rope that was knotted and didn't work right. The facility was just in sad shape. We were so disappointed. Years ago, that place was wonderful; my daughters loved it. But, alas, a generation goes by and now it's junk. So disappointed. I hope that whoever runs the place either reinvests to make it wonderful again or shuts it down and stops inappropriately advertising it as a wonderful place for kids when in reality it's just a bunch of busted toys laying around. You could just see the looks of disappointment on everyone's faces as they realized they'd been had!

Still Amazing
Sep 2020 • Family
So you’re planning a wedding for family and friends and it’s a full weekend event and some have young children. What to do?
Hands On. Our children including the bride all grew up spending time at Hands On and it provided a great option for the young children her for our daughters wedding. It’s still the most amazing well thought out place for children. It’s fun and educational. Here’s a poorly kept secret - adults like it too. Thanks Hands On for solving our problem.

Nice little stop
Sep 2019 • Family
I took my 3 year old here on a weekday afternoon. It costs about 19 dollars. It is small and has a cute appeal to it. I wish there were more things to do inside or the props were a bit more interactive. We were playing in the mechanic room and someone came around and had picked up a lot of the pieces. There was still about an hour left of being open. Some of the equipment didn’t work very well. My son had a good time for the price but probably best suited for young children.

Great for a Toddler
Jul 2019 • Family
We decided to try The Hands on House since it was to hot to do much else. We had our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and 6 year old grandson. Our granddaughter loved all the activities and our grandson was bored within a 1/2 hour.
It was a little pricey for the limited activities and the fact that the outside area was closed for a summer school group from 10-1230. And we were only there until 12. You also pay for adults, which seemed a little much.
Would recommend for kids probably under 4, over that age would be bored unless you spend the time in the outside area if it’s open.

Extremely Kid Friendly
Aug 2019 • Family
We came here as a last minute change of plans, due to the rain. This is an immaculately kept children's museum. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our kids had about two hours of fun between the science lab, play places, and outdoor playground. Their favorite parts were the pretend supermarket and the pretend farm. The cost for a family of five was $47.50. I felt it was very reasonable for an afternoon of fun.

Great Fun!
Aug 2019 • Family
We had a great time at the museum with our five and three year old sons! We were camping in the Lancaster area and wanted something fun but inexpensive to do because of thunderstorms in the forecast. Our two and a half hours at the museum were well worth it! The boys really enjoyed playing outside, and the science room where they listened to a story first kept them busy for 45 minutes. The rest of their time was spent in the various exhibits that make up the rest of the space. We’ve been to several other children’s museums, and there were a handful of activities/exhibits I hadn’t seen anywhere else. The place seemed to get a little crowded (especially for a weekday) so I would suggest arriving when it opens and signing up for the story time to take advantage of the science room.

Great fun for toddlers. Allow at least two hours.
Aug 2019
We brought our two toddler grandchildren here on a day trip and it was excellent! They had so much fun. We only regret that we allowed an hour in our busy schedule. Next time we return we will allow at least two hours. There is so much to do indoors and outdoors and they had a great time. Talked about it for miles down the road and the next day. Staff is very friendly.

Safe place to play and learn
Jul 2019 • Family
This is a small, self-guided, interactive children’s play museum. There is a construction truck zone, an ant hill, a large bee hive, a paint-your-own-face station, a farm station, a mailroom, a market and a play factory. With one way in and out, this is a safe, clean and well-maintained space.

When you take the time to read the signage, you can make this an educational trip. I did read the signs, and while she knew some of the things we were reading, it reinforced those learnings and prompted us to talk about the topic wider.

I felt the factory area was the most well-done build-wise, but more signs and education content could be added to that area. A lot of it was just designed around play and imagination.

There is also a room off to the other side of the building that had some table activities and that led to the outside garden.

With one 7-year-old, our visit was about two hours. Most of that time was spent in the market area. She enjoyed it, but kids younger than her would enjoy it and learn from it, too. Older kids may not find it as fun. I would say it’s grwat for 7 and under.
