About
*Hours subject to change* Competitive axe throwing is a well known Canadian past time that's becoming increasingly popular in the United States. Simply put, it's like playing a game of darts, except with axes! At Bury The Hatchet you'll experience the thrill of launching an axe at a wooden target in a safe and fun environment. You and your best mates will spend two hours becoming intimate with a 1.5lb piece of whirling wood and metal as you learn, practice, and then finally square off toe-to-toe in a group tournament.

This was a great venue for our team managers to let loose and have a friendly competition. Roman, our Axe Master, was great showing technique and providing tips as the competition went on. We were able to have a catered dinner brought in, which made the event complete. I highly recommend this activity for any group event- mom's night, couples outing, business teams. So much fun!

Honestly axe throwing sounded like something one would do for free in their back yard with a stump - not pay money for.

So going into it I had reservations, however the instructor was very informative and was able to succeed in teaching everyone to throw correctly (the axe stuck in the wood). He worked with us as a group and then honed in on people who needed extra tweaks since everyone throws slightly different.
Furthermore, with only four allowed to throw at a time, they did a very good job with games/challenges to keep everyone attentive and involved even when not throwing.

I still would say axe throwing is best not paid for, but if you must pay, this place did a good job teaching and also making things fun through group activities.

My family and I (two parents, three adult children and two spouses, and one teen) came as a group a few days after Christmas. None of us had ever tried axe throwing before (and many of us are less than athletic), but our Axe Master Adam soon had us throwing with confidence. The variety of games - some of which reminded me of darts - kept things interesting, and the mini-lesson on trick shots at the end helped us leave feeling like pros. I would definitely recommend booking more than an hour for a first time as it took a little while to get the hang of it.

Axe throwing is a great fun activity. I have done axe throwing at a couple of other places that let you interact/compete with the group you went with, this particular location made you compete against strangers in the next lane. Our start time was scheduled for 7pm, they started out with a training session for each person, which included the other folks in the next lane, so there were 17 people that needed trained...this took up the first 45 minutes of waiting around til we actually started throwing. Overall it was a good experience, but I would have preferred to be competing with the group I went with as opposed to being forced to compete with strangers. The other issue/difference with this place versus the others is that you only throw 1 axe at a time and then get back in line and wait for the rest of your team to throw, whereas the other places I've been to you throw up to 10 axes at a time in some form of a competition, so you are able to get some sort of consistent feel for what you are doing.

Tried Axe Throwing for the 1st time with my family and had a great time. The Axe Master was very good and kept thing moving and entertaining. My only complaint was the need for duplicate axe weights at each lane so both players can use the same weight simultaneously. I had to use different axe weights when the one i preferred was taken and it dimmed my experience as i was throwing better with a certain weight axe.

This was a new experience for all but one in our group of 10. I must say, a good time was had by all! I first thought 2 hours seemed like a long time to throw an axe, boy was I wrong! They have you doing games and competitions; which made our 2 hr time slot just fly by. Vic was our Axe Master and she was awesome! She gave us great tips on how to correctly and affectively throw an axe. And she interacted well with our group.

Had a great time and our axe-master, Ted, was very helpful. Although we did not bring food or wine, many people around us dis and next time we will too!! :-) My only suggestions would be to find a way to replace the center wood more frequently and sharpen the axes a little more. Many times he axes would hit blade to wood, but not stick. Overall well run and a lot of fun.

Half our team came ready to play, and half of us was nervous because it was our first time. Rob made everyone of us feel comfortable by spending time with us modeling and coaching us on how to properly throw the axe. Rob then explained to us how to play the games he had for us to play. The entire experience was great, I came there with my job just to have a fun night out and it was so much fun. We are looking to come back sometime in March

This a great place for just about anyone. The staff all walk you through how to throw your axe and help you hone your new found skill with fun, competitive games. Our Axe Master: Madison took the full group of novices and had us hitting bullseyes by the end. You have to be trying hard to have a bad time here.

We had an amazing time. It was my husbands 45th birthday and I wanted to do something fun and different. We had a crowd of 7 so we didnt get our own lane. That was fine because we paired with 4 other people who we competed against and played with. Our ax master was Triple D who was amazing. After we finished he took pictures of our group. triple D gave us pointers and took his time with each of us. The only negative was that there was no food it was BYOB +F we did bring snakes but it would have been better as a one stop shop. No kids allowed so its not a family thing which was good. Adult time was needed. We said that we would go again.
