Ok..let’s be clear...everyone has shared the ‘Good; Bad and some Ugly’ associated with participating in the iFly experience! I’ll say that mine was soooooo much fun! I wanted to start the year off with a new experience that would push me out of my comfort zone—so I ended up on iFly and I was glad I did! I found a few besties that couldn’t tell me ‘no’ because it was my birthday request!

From the start to the finish of my experience with iFly..I encountered helpful staff to assist me through the reservation to finishing out my (2) two flights with the last flight offering the ‘high flying’ ending! I was unsure about the waiver process and my reservation-when I called about my inquires—was given great assistance and arriving on site -the great customer service continued!

The actual flight experience is much harder than it looks..but is is a fun experience! My suggestion—be sure to being a friend who isn’t participating to take pictures and videos for you do you won’t be subjected to to ‘overpriced’ up selling of pictures and videos!

For me—I felt it was good..but remember relax and have fun..don’t get in your head..just listen to the instructor!
Also-tip: Get two flight—your 1st one is a disaster—2nd one—you’ll know what to expect and it will be a better flight!

It's a short experience. My recommendation is that before you pay the $$ watch what is happening. You will fly 2 times for about 30 seconds each. That's it. It is fun and easy to learn. But know what your buying so you don't regret it. It's fun.

First, I'll lay out the downsides. Cost is high. I managed to snag a groupon, which helped a lot. Another is the protective eyewear which was uncomfortable for some of us. We were a group of 4 (two adults, two 15 yr olds). The eyewear has to be on tight when you're in the wind tunnel. Makes sense, but it was a little pinchy and a couple of us had the goggles fog up a little (which went away with a wipe). The price you pay is covering your time with an instructor inside the wind tunell and another person that controls the wind for each flyer (and of course the gear: helmet, goggles, jumpsuit, ear plugs). However, you're sharing your time with other people that signed up for the same flight time (this isn't necessarily a bad thing, read on). Those are the downsides. The pluses: I was grinning about the experience 24 hours later and even now, a week later, want to go back. I've never skydived and can say this is the first time my entire body was floating and even propelling through the air. Very cool. The 2 short flights in the tunnel felt like enough time. Why? because you're body isn't used to the sensation and I really think more time might have been hard. We all needed to take a seat and chill...even catch our breath after each ride, even the 15 year olds. That's why it's good to have other people in your party flying at the same time. It allows for you to take a break before the next flight. There is the 'high fly' option which means the instructor takes you up higher in the tunell and spins you around. You and the instructor fly together. That was exhilarating! If you aren't sure you want the option when booking, no problem. You can choose to add the high fly to your 2nd flight after you've completed the 1st flight for about $10 more. I recommend waiting if you aren't sure. Without the high fly, you're hovering in the tunnel which is still a very fun experience. A couple tips: for anyone with mid to long length hair, tie back your hair or deal with the knots later. Have some tissues handy. A couple folks came out of the tunnel with runny noses. There is a lot of wind in that tunnel, it's bound to happen to someone. You can fly with glasses on, they have goggles that fit over glasses.

My son tried to follow the instructions to keep his head up and still struggled to breathe. The training does not cover what to do if you can't breathe. The instructor needs to pay close attention to the children's reaction, especially when they are repeatedly looking for the exit. Telling them to focus on straightening their legs is the least of their worries when they can't BREATHE! It's very loud in the tunnel and you need to speak loudly to be heard. BE AWARE PARENTS! My son's experience may or may not be unique, but a several hours later we were in the ER department because he could not breathe. He swallowed so much air and it became trapped below his diaphragm and caused him to vomit and struggle to breathe.

I got a Gift Certificate for IFly as a X-mas present and finally was able to utilize it last week.
All-in-all, to be fair, I have to say that it was an interesting experience, however there are just a lot of things that make one think on it objectively when considering a possible repeat return.
1. Requirement to be there at least an hour prior to your flight - IMHO completely unnecessary. I was coming from some distance and therefore allowed myself some time "just in case". when everything went smooth - I wound up sitting on the bench watching other people for about 45 minutes before my group was called into "training session". I think they'd be better off explaining to people that said training session commences 30 minutes prior to your flight and suggest to be there perhaps 5-10 minutes before that.
2. The said 'training session' consists of a 5 -minutes video (think 'yet another commercial\sales pitch') and 10 minutes explanation from the person who will wind up being your instructor on what to expect in the tunnel. not exactly 'training' as you are not being trained per se, rather given a classroom-type lecture. Does it help in some ways? Sure - you do get some notion as to what to expect and some theory instructions, but again IMHO it is not a 'training' in a sense that some people think of it to be.
3. While you are being told about the experience in terms of 'flights' (i.e. You have 2 flights, or 1 flight, etc.) when I asked about the time I was told that I'll be spending about 25 minutes total "in there". Please note that your PERSONAL TOTAL TIME per flight is ONE MINUTE! As a part of a group which consists of 7-10 people you will spend about said 25 minutes while rotating for your turn between 2 flights but 2 minutes is roughly all you going to get
4. With that - IMHO simply not enough time to truly figure out what it is you are doing if you are doing it wrong. I didn't do too well in some part due to the fact that what I was feeling was completely different from what was truly happening to me. Granted - there were people who were just natural and needless to say, the kids (as always in cases like this) outshine the adults :). But I am sure some folks would agree with me that given perhaps 5 minutes instead of 1 could help to get a better perspective.
5. The true highlight is being taken UP (probably about 30 feet...may be more) by the instructor. That happens in the last 20 seconds of your 2nd flight and they will give yo3 3 Ups and Downs...nice! Do take note that its an optional thing which will add $10.45 total to your bill. Is it worth it? I have to say Yes because at this point - it probably wont break your bank, but again - just keep that in mind.
6. The price itself. About $80.00 for initial "Earn Your Wings" (which is what I had since it was my 1st time") and various packages after that choose you to pursue this as a hobby further (I am sure some folks do). While the argument that it is cheaper than the sky diving probably holds true (can't comment in all honesty, as I never priced sky diving) - it is still quite expensive given the time it probably will take an average joe to be completely competent to be left alone in the tunnel. The best package available is 10 flights for $170.00 (I'm sure + tax) so while $17.00\minute is not $40.00\minute - chances are you'll spend a good chunk of dough for the privilege. As with any other hobby - obviously it is up to the individual to decide if the cost worth the outcome.

To sum up - I am glad that I had the opportunity to do this and I did like the experience overall. if not for the cost and time (as stated - lots of down time...perhaps it lessens as one gets more proficient, but meanwhile would have to be endured) I might have given it another go. That said, fully understanding that it is not anything I would pursue myself as a hobby, I have to say that this probably was my only contact with IFly (save for the fact if somehow I get another gift certificate).
I am not saying that this is something "bad" (I DO strongly encourage people though to visit the website, read up and ponder on any possible medical conditions and situations that may occur - someone mentioned here that their kid had trouble breathing...I was fine.... about 40 or so people I saw between all participants while there seemed to be also, but that's not to say that it cannot happen...so do your homework) or trying to discourage folks; I am simply saying that this is not for me in the long run.

Kids had fun...but expect a very long wait. Not sure what the point of an appointment is. Got there on time. Waited an hour before starting class. For the money and one minute of flying..they really shouldn’t over book. Kind of annoying but as I said..kids had fun.

This was a good experience. It was on my bucket list. It is challenging and fun. I took my 13 year old daughter and she liked it too. Don't expect to do any tricks your first time, but you don't need to. It is a good experience just to feel what it is like....then watch your instructor WOW you with his/her skills. I can see how some flyers want to keep going and learn all of the tricks - but just trying it one time was good enough for me. The facility and staff are professional and impressive.

Or was a blast and not hard at all. Our instructor was patient and skillful. Great time. The trick is to relax when going through the wind tunnel.

Cool experience but I don’t need to do it again. The people are very friendly and helpful. They work well with young kids too! My three boys (10, 9 and 5) loved it and want to go back.
