Rt6. Rt66 and rt666 ... All meet in this town..... It's very interesting to see what Kane's artists's bring to the table. This railroad hub, which was once an epicenter for many "cities" to traverse into this little known town of Kane,well.. have A very interesting story here! as do the artists!

Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic young man gave us a tour of this train depot museum, sharing lots of human interest stories. If you are interested in the 1800's , especially the civil war, segregation, lobo wolves - you will enjoy this museum. I wish I had bought one of the books on Kane at the giftshop as I forget some of the names and details of its very accomplished families and interesting history. A former slave whose name I forget, became a very successful entrepreneur and prominent in the community. Kane was never segregated by race, even when the train station waiting rooms were segregated by sex. I called for the hours, and even though the museum wasn't open on Tuesdays we were told to come and he would open to give us a tour.

Stopped in hoping to see the McCleery history information but it was closed. No indication of hours or when you could visit
The wolf statue is awesome and well positioned Beautiful.
Stopped a woman on the street and asked about the depot. She also was disappointed that it was not open as she was interested in buying gifts.

This is a great small museum! It's well organized and has a lot of information. There are also books by local authors and work from local artists. It's looped into the Pennsylvania Wilds artisan trail project.

Lovingly restored PA Railroad Depot, home to local history and the newly opened McCleery Discovery Center. Learn all about the Lobo Wolves, saved from extinction by Dr. McCleery, and see a beautiful new mount of a wolf. PA Wilds artisan items, local history books, historic paintings and more! Don't miss this gem in Kane PA!

Over the years, I've been here a few times. It provides a nice overview of the area, especially it's history and culture. It's within walking distance of downtown so you won't have to leave the trail to get there. Local artists often have items for sale here too.

A once forlorn and forgotten train depot has been taken over by a handful of dedicated, hard working, history loving local citizens, and it sure shows ! So thankful that the history, culture, and memories of the Kane area and people, especially the founding family, have been brought to the forefront and preserved and fleshed out by this group of passionate citizens. Just a remarkable and ever improving historic venue, serving as a meeting place, seller of locally representative artifacts, books, and memorabilia, and hub for history lovers. Their efforts have also saved the local Kane Chapel, just down the street, in conjunction with the Mormons, preserving it, saving it from water damage, and protecting it for posterity in grand fashion.

We visited when the depot had their opening night for the season. This building has been renovated to mirror its original look. There was a group performing in the back room and a lot of people brought snacks & wine. The place was packed! Many artists have their works on display and were here as well, so it was nice to meet them. The local historical society has pictures and items on display as well as books on local history for sale. A couple of men who attend these events are knowledgeable about the local history. Very friendly people...great visit!

We just happened to hear about this place and stopped to see the craft items for sale but we got a first class history lesson on Kane and its founder. The information came from a very impressive young man of about 12 or 13 years who has an incredible knowledge of the history of the area and the ability to present the information in with a passion that makes if very interesting. Our 10 minute stop turned into more than an hour because of the information provided.
