Very nice museum with lots of local history displays. Lobo wolves, Holgate toys who made Mr. Rodgers trolly. Very nice lady showed us around and was very knowledgeable.

Didn’t get to visit due to limited hours, but wanted to update on what those hours are. See photos. We’d like to visit on another trip.

Stopped in hoping to see the McCleery history information but it was closed. No indication of hours or when you could visit
The wolf statue is awesome and well positioned Beautiful.
Stopped a woman on the street and asked about the depot. She also was disappointed that it was not open as she was interested in buying gifts.

Fascinating history of Kane and human interest stories
Jul 2020
Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic young man gave us a tour of this train depot museum, sharing lots of human interest stories. If you are interested in the 1800's , especially the civil war, segregation, lobo wolves - you will enjoy this museum. I wish I had bought one of the books on Kane at the giftshop as I forget some of the names and details of its very accomplished families and interesting history. A former slave whose name I forget, became a very successful entrepreneur and prominent in the community. Kane was never segregated by race, even when the train station waiting rooms were segregated by sex. I called for the hours, and even though the museum wasn't open on Tuesdays we were told to come and he would open to give us a tour.

Lots of history here, a small museum but worth a visit.
Aug 2019
At first glance it looked like a pretty neat place, a restored railroad depot. Lots of artifacts and a wide range of things to see. That in itself was good, but we got to meet Dennis Driscoll. Dennis is an artist, his work is there in the museum as well as at the Kane Railroad bridge Center, Dennis also works there at the museum. If you get the chance, let him walk around with you, it will change your experience for the better.

Things that look interesting have a whole lot of story behind it, and Dennis would love to share it with you. Whether it be information about the wolves, local history, railroad history, or even history of artifacts that related to US presidents, Dennis knows it all. He's quite the interesting character, and very knowegable. Every time I thought I was finished, Dennis and I started conversations all over again. There's a whole lot more to those artifacts than just what you see.

In my opinion, people like Dennis make the experience more meaningful. Dennis even gave me a signed piece of his work, a veneer post card drawing that he did and are there for purchase at the museum. Thanks Dennis, this will go right in a frame as a momento of our visit. I hope that you get the opertunity as I did to listen to historical information that he can provide you, it will be well worth your time!

Full of great information!

This is a great small museum! It's well organized and has a lot of information. There are also books by local authors and work from local artists. It's looped into the Pennsylvania Wilds artisan trail project.

Get to know the area...
May 2018 • Friends
Over the years, I've been here a few times. It provides a nice overview of the area, especially it's history and culture. It's within walking distance of downtown so you won't have to leave the trail to get there. Local artists often have items for sale here too.
