Noted in National Geographic Traveler for its superb acoustics, the 1881 Opera House was an important stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. Today's schedule is diverse, from folk, rock, classical, and jazz. Recent renovations include a new steel roof, sound system and theater seats. Relaxed, intimate and all seats have a great view. The Opera House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe's historic district, just a quick stroll to pubs, restaurants, lodging and shops.

My husband and I were walking by the opera house on Saturday during the day. They were opened and you could walk around and check the place out. The two guys that we spoke to were very nice. Dave was trying very hard to convince me to come back at 8pm and see the tribute band for Tom Petty. I... More

This is seriously one of the best reasons to visit the half-old/half-modern Jim Thorpe. Though this opera house is old, it's still in operation. Granted, I've never been inside it myself, but I've seen it many times. Also, while this may just be a rumor, I heard that Les Miserables (the original one) did a performance there, though that can't... More

Stopped for a visit while in JT. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Many good shows lined up for fall. Plan to return to experience the live entertainment. Family have attended shows in the past and have raved about them. Very quaint atmosphere. Historic building.

When to see their Burlesque show last night. It was a good show. this Opera House is so quaint much like Jim Thorpe in general. I don't think there's a bad seat in the whole house. It is small and the Acoustics are great.

Saw the Bird Dogs tribute to the Everly Brothers - so excellent, especially from the 2nd row! Stayed at the Inn and walked up to the theater. Great history and fun. Alcohol and snacks in the lobby that can be taken into the theater. Many venues are held here. Great experience.

I visited the Mauch Chunk opera house to see a cover band. I did not know what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised. This venue is unique in that there is an area for dancing in front of the stage and then plenty of concert hall seating as well. The size is fantastic in that it is smaller and there... More

Could not be the convenience from the hotel - 2 blocks down from the Inn, easy walk. Great old place, sound was fine, we were 4th row from stage. VERY informal, had the old hippie vibe which is always cool at a show. Great intimate venue for a concert.

What an amazing venue in the middle of nowhere! The shows are wonderful and musicians are so talented. I especially like 40 Story Radio Tower live for podcasts. Funny skits, great poetry and original music by talented bands. Let's not forget The Sweet Note Cafe'. Wow homemade cookies and organic coffee to die first,

We saw The David Bromberg Quintet there. Although we had 3rd row center, we could of sat in the last row and been no more than 20 ft. from the stage... Beautiful, historic venue. The Staff were attentive, the beers at the bar were iced cold. It was clean. The sound was great.

We saw the Adam Ezra Group here in late April (who if you ever have the chance to see, do it!! Great energetic, talented band that reminds me of a combination of instrumentals of the Dave Matthews Band, and raspy voice like the classic blues/rock groups with real life lyrics). The theater is extremely well kept for its age and... More
