Noted in National Geographic Traveler for its superb acoustics, the 1881 Opera House was an important stop on the old Vaudeville circuit. Today's schedule is diverse, from folk, rock, classical, and jazz. Recent renovations include a new steel roof, sound system and theater seats. Relaxed, intimate and all seats have a great view. The Opera House is located in the heart of Jim Thorpe's historic district, just a quick stroll to pubs, restaurants, lodging and shops.

Catch a show to rap up the day.

Small enough so all seats are good. Big enough to have good shows. Has a limited bar . Good sound system

This is obviously a historic building and a great locale for concerts. We attended a guitar concert which was fun...and the people staffing the place were very friendly.

The Opera House has been re-creating itself and offering great entertainment for many years. A great place to see something a little different.

Saw a dialogue rendition of 'A Christmas Carol' last December, very good. Loved the small theater. We are fans of smaller venue places, so this was perfect. We hope to be back for a concert at some point.

I never thought I would hear the harmonies of the Eagles duplicated, but that happened 10/17/15 at the opera house and I'm quite sure the acoustics helped perhaps a tad. I've been attending concerts/shows for 50 years (over 40 years with my wife) and we both agreed this one was the best. The small venue allows for a more personal... More

We based our stay around seeing a show at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. The show was the highlight of our stay in Jim Thorpe. (the weather was horrible & we couldn't enjoy the great outdoors) There's not a bad seat in this place. The acoustics are amazing. There was a meet & great with the artists after the performance.

The opera house is a small venue with exceptional acoustics. The main floor seats about 200 and if the balcony is open another 100 seats are available. There is not a bad seat in the place. Well known national acts pass through on a regular basis. Plus there is the 2nd tier of tribute acts. Both are worth the price... More
