My wife and I just completed the 6 day Erie Canal bike trip, and we loved it. The staff went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and provide for all our needs. We would recommend Pocono to anyone interested in this type of ride.

We did the 15 mile shuttle drop off with rented bikes (you can ring your own bike). The bikes worked fine, the scenery was gorgeous, the shuttle (aka school bus) worked well. The trail was easy to ride with a gentle downhill most of the way with lots of spots to stop, take pictures and have a snack. I would strongly suggest arriving early, this gives you time to get fitted for your bike, but any snack or water you may need and have time for a bathroom break before hopping on the shuttle. You are responsible for your own food and water. There are not places on the trail to purchase anything. I also would suggest making a reservation, we saw a couple being turned away because they didn’t have a reservation and there was no more space.

I just finished the multi-day Erie canal bike trip. The trip was A++++. I loved the hotels, the guides and the route was well planned out. After New York state finished this Erie canal trail, I was looking for an outfitter to guide me through it. Pocono Biking and Reed, Talon and Brendan did an amazing job!

We booked the 25 mile bike and shuttle package for 11am. When we got there my husband went to park while we checked in and got fitted for bikes. I informed their bike manager Kyle Podlesky ,that my husband was parking at the lot right across the street and since he didn’t have a phone on him, I would run and get him so we could leave on time. Our kids waited at the store and when we got back the bus was right in the yard, getting ready to leave. We told him we made it, but he refused to allow us on the bus. MOST INCONSIDERATE!! He informed us that we would have to take the next bus which would be one hour later and we would have to do the shorter ride of 15miles. We voiced our disappointment to Jen their retail manager and she offered to have the next bus drop us to the 25mile start point. In the bus we realised we were short on water supply and asked the driver if he knew any place where we could get water or if there was any water available in the park. He told us there was no water available anywhere. It’s probable that he just didn’t know, but there was a bar right at the drop off point from where we purchased bottles of water (thanks to my husband who noticed it!) and also in the park they have water filling stations near restrooms. The trail itself was beautiful, winding through the gorge with river on one side and a canopy of green which provided shade for the ride. Towards the end it intersects and runs parallel to the railroad. It has a few waterfalls and a lot of picturesque spots with picnic tables. Overall the day was well spent and memorable, but the inconsiderate customer service did tarnish the experience
