After looking for a bike trip in the region, we stumbled upon the Lehigh Gorge River Trail. We found a competitor, "pocono bike rental," prior to landing on Pocono Biking. After several unanswered calls to the competitor, at the time not aware Pocono Biking existed, we were dumbfounded by the lack of professionalism and downright conceited narcissism offered by Tom W at the competitor.

Then, we found POCONO BIKING.

Pocono Biking is organized, professional, and always has someone ready to answer their phones during business hours who is knowledgable about the services and product they offer, as well as the trail itself. They have a brick-and-mortar storefront and bike rental shop in the heart of Jim Thorpe, PA that is ready to assist you in getting your bikes to you, shuttled to the trailhead if that's your need, and any help needed along the way. As soon as I made the reservation, I immediately received a full confirmation as to what we reserved. The shuttle left on time (that means be on time!) and the bikes were perfect. Not to mention, they have a printed map of the Lehigh Gorge River Trail from top to bottom (and beyond).

Pocono Biking was also reasonably priced (~$30 for the day rental, ~$15-20 for the shuttle) and had a selection of snacks and gear in their bike shop at Jim Thorpe. We had such a great experience, we actually came back 3 weeks later to ride another part of the trail. So glad we found them.

It's important to note that during Fall Foliage (oct/nov), Jim Thorpe gets extremely busy. Traffic getting into the center of town and area parking can be a challenge so definitely recommend getting there early. There's a municipal lot across the street from the bike shop, but it gets full quick.

We did the 4 Day D&L Trail Inn to Inn trip for our 21st anniversary.

This trip exceeded every expectation we ever had. The customer service was excellent every step of the way.

This was our first bike tour of this type. Our tour guides Reed, Sierra and Evan were absolutely amazing. I brought my own bike and my husband signed up for a rental. When we arrived, Reed had three bikes for him to try. He told him to pick two of the three, and one would be a back up if he changed his mind. They treated my bike as if it were their own, taking very good care of it during the van rides and on the overnights.

The trail is absolutely fantastic. The scenery along the way is beautiful. It's downhill for four days, which makes the mileage very reasonable.

We were very well prepared for the trip, thanks to all the planning information. Sierra kept us all up to date as the trip approached and was very helpful, answering any questions we had.

They have put together a great support wagon and have arranged food and accommodations that are excellent! You will love the Inn at Jim Thorpe, Hotel Bethlehem and the Fox and Hound B&B. Don't skip the "field trip" to Bethlehem Steel on the second day!

Reed, Sierra and Evan were our guides. Reed and Sierra made sure every detail was in place throughout the day. They took turns riding with us. Evan rode with us the entire trip, and he is a wealth of information as you ride the trail. All three guides have extensive knowledge of the entire route, which is fascinating.

I encountered a snag on Day 3 - my bike broke! The guys made a valiant effort to fix it, but it needed a full shop. This is where their customer service went way above and beyond - Sierra offered her personal (very nice) bicycle for me to ride to finish the trip!!!

Kyle, the support van driver was SO helpful. He took good care of our bikes and carried our luggage each day. He had our luggage in our rooms each evening so that when we arrived we could just go straight there.

We just can't recommend Pocono Biking highly enough. Thanks for a wonderful anniversary trip!

We started our route of the full Lehigh Gorge at the White Haven location since we were staying in Hawley. The bikes we rented were in good condition and the service was great. We appreciated the social distancing/masks and other precautions. The biking and views themselves were fabulous. We arrived in Glen Thorpe shortly after 2:30 pm and met the bus driver. We grabbed some ice cream and left town by 3:30 pm. We were the only ones on the bus back to White Haven so we were able to choose the departure time (normally 4:30). Bus driver was friendly and we had a great day. We are so glad we came upon this trail activity! We can highly recommend the customer service department. We had questions before we booked that were handled well and helped us plan our trip.

I had been looking forward to this biking adventure, but ended up being very disappointed. First, we were packed into a very full yellow school bus for over an hour to get to the starting point. People wore masks and bus windows were open, but no other Covid-19 precautions. Also you need to allow a lot of extra time to get there due to massive traffic congestion and distant parking in the town of Jim Thorpe. We took the 25 mile ride, which is supposed to take three to five hours. We got on the trail at 1:40PM and were concerned that we would not make it back to the bike rental location in Jim Thorpe before the 6:00PM closing time, so we did not take time to stop and read the historical plaques or look at the locks or other scenic features. The bikes that they gave us were bad. My bike was a heavy steel frame mountain bike with a very hard seat and was configured so that I had to lean very far forward to pedal. Definitely not a "comfort bike". I also felt like there was some price gouging going on. No "senior discounts" even mid-week and I had to pay an extra $5 to rent a basket to put on the bike to carry our lunch and water supply, etc. The trail itself is very nice and in good condition, but it is not what I would call "downhill". It is basically flat with no uphill segments. My advice would be to get an early start so that you can ride at a more leisurely pace and take rest stops to look at the scenery. I would not use Pocono Biking again. If we did this again, we would bring our own bikes and use one of the smaller shuttle services.

My wife and I just completed the 6 day Erie Canal bike trip, and we loved it. The staff went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and provide for all our needs. We would recommend Pocono to anyone interested in this type of ride.

Shuttle ride to start point and accommodated my recumbent trike. Trikes being an oddity for the service provided, the staff did an excellent job of making sure they could get me and my trike to the start point. The original plan was to ride from White Haven to Jim Thorpe but trail damage forced a change to ride from Rockport to Jim Thorpe, a 15 mile ride instead of 25. It was still a great ride, beautiful day and scenery. I was offered an opt out because of the change beyond their control but I accepted the change just to get the ride in. It was worth it.

We took the shuttle for the 25 mile ride along the Leigh Valley Gorge. The trail it self is beautiful. The first 10 miles is particularly beautiful. The last few miles run along the rail road and are less scenic. The trail is well maintained and mostly flat. No up hill sections and no steep down hills. The shuttle ride took about an hour and we took about 4.5 hours on the trail including stops for lunch and scenery. We brought our own bikes.

I am giving 3 stars because the experience with the Pocono Biking shuttle itself was not what I expected. I called to ask about COVID precautions before making my reservation. They said they were limiting the number of people on the shuttle for social distancing. However, we were loaded onto a nearly full yellow school bus. The shuttle felt more crowded than I expected. Windows were not open. I opened mine for the ride but most other passengers kept them shut. They did require masks and the other passengers were compliant.

Overall, the ride was beautiful and I would do this again but I would not book this shuttle until we are beyond the need for COVID precautions.

We booked the 25 mile bike and shuttle package for 11am. When we got there my husband went to park while we checked in and got fitted for bikes. I informed their bike manager Kyle Podlesky ,that my husband was parking at the lot right across the street and since he didn’t have a phone on him, I would run and get him so we could leave on time. Our kids waited at the store and when we got back the bus was right in the yard, getting ready to leave. We told him we made it, but he refused to allow us on the bus. MOST INCONSIDERATE!! He informed us that we would have to take the next bus which would be one hour later and we would have to do the shorter ride of 15miles.
We voiced our disappointment to Jen their retail manager and she offered to have the next bus drop us to the 25mile start point.
In the bus we realised we were short on water supply and asked the driver if he knew any place where we could get water or if there was any water available in the park. He told us there was no water available anywhere. It’s probable that he just didn’t know, but there was a bar right at the drop off point from where we purchased bottles of water (thanks to my husband who noticed it!) and also in the park they have water filling stations near restrooms.
The trail itself was beautiful, winding through the gorge with river on one side and a canopy of green which provided shade for the ride. Towards the end it intersects and runs parallel to the railroad. It has a few waterfalls and a lot of picturesque spots with picnic tables.
Overall the day was well spent and memorable, but the inconsiderate customer service did tarnish the experience

4 Day D&L Trail Bike Trip

My husband & I just returned from our trip (Oct 2022). We booked with Sierra, she was lovely to work with & efficient. Our tour guides, Doug & Kyle, we’re attentive, knowledgeable, fun, hard working, & Johnny on the spot when issues came up.
The trails are mostly dirt or gravel. I wouldn’t recommend a road bike. Parts of the trail around Easton Pa are a work in progress. The hotels, break stops , & food are terrific. It’s a good value. We had very dicey weather-which is just part of biking-one day so our pace was a bit quicker then. You will be sore even if you are an occasional biker but are pretty active. Reserve an E bike if you have any hesitation. We had regular mountain bikes but did fine. We had someone get injured, which again can happen in outdoor activities. Our guides were very compassionate, present, and handled the situation well. We had a lively and fun group to bike with. There was a range of abilities but it worked. I would highly recommend the trip. We loved it!

The older man matching us to our bikes was a delight. Answered my parents' many questions with patience and tried his best to accommodate us. He was charming, funny, and professional.
Please do not confuse this business with the very similar "poconobikerental"- we booked with them initially, thinking they were this business due to their website appearance. They were rude, racist, and did not wear masks- because of them we had to reschedule our entire trip.
Had it not been for pocono biking, the trip would have been a waste. They were extremely understanding, patient, and wonderful to do business with.
