I took my 4 and 6-year-old children to the sanctuary, and we had an excellent time. Super friendly staff provided a short video about monarchs, gave a presentation about butterflies and how our world benefits from them, and taught us about how butterflies use camouflage in the wild to survive. We viewed frogs in one room, which also contained puzzles... More

A wonderful experience for everyone in the family. The staff is very passionate and will share the importance of becoming "stewart" in caring for the environment and the health of butterflies.

My 3 year old daughter really enjoyed the butterfly sanctuary. The staff was very friendly. They do a cute movie with a presentation about monarchs, which was cute. There is a coloring/craft area, a room with frogs, and a small area where you can see the butterflies and feed them nectar. They also have a gift shop, which had a... More

The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Had a great time enjoying the butterflies, while learning more about their life cycle and habits. A must visit for anyone interested in lepidopterology.

We took our grand children (7 & 9) to visit the live butterflies at the Bear Mountain Sanctuary. They have an indoor flutterarium where you can see the monarch butterflies up close. You can feed them using a pad on a stick full of sugar water. The butterflies will land on you hand, head, and arms. As part of the... More

Spent 2 hours at the Butterfly Sanctuary with my husband, and visiting family from Florida that included a 2 1/2 year old and 4 adults. The life cycle of a butterfly movie was informative and presented so a child could understand. The staff that day were all teens - knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. The butterfly "room"... More

It was a great activity for a rainy day and young children. They are still talking about how one of the butterflies landed on their toe! We took advantage of most of the amenities there - we fed the butterflies, we played the games on the activity tables, we checked out the frogs, we colored butterflies and different insects. We... THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST, WORST, butterfly places I have ever been in. Butterfly room, NOT CONSERVANCY, NOT HOUSE, was very very dark. Room was maybe 15' by 20' with a 7' to 8' ceiling. Wounded or dead Monarchs everywhere! butterflies beating and floging a window to get to the sunlight. You could hear the sounds of the beating... More

This is for trip Advisor admin. not to be put on the site. I could respond to this review but don't even know where to start. What he is saying is not true. There are so many references , sizes, layout issues that simply are not true. I believe the review may be connected to PITA. I am amazed at... More

I'll start by saying the people that work here are very sincere and love what they do , and for that I give them credit. However, this is a very small place with not much at all see. The butterfly area is very small and the only butterflies there were Monarchs. The show was OK, but not nearly enough to... More

We had my daughters 5th birthday party here today. They have live butterflies, which the kids were hand feeding, and the gift shop they have there is amazing. Mari was amazing with the kids, and everyone who came really enjoyed themselves. My daughter is already asking when she can go back.
