What a day, we had multiple sightings of these beautiful creatures during our trip. We had 2 whales who came alongside the boat and put in a show for us, wonderful!
The marina was easy to get to, viewing from the boat was fantastic and the captain was funny.
Would definitely recommend this tour, the added bonus is that is leaves from Tweed Heads, no need to go to the other end of the Gold Coast for a whale watching tour.

Crew came across as “casual” even too casual, but we had large swell with high wind and a tricky bar crossing. When it came to it, they all knew what they were doing and full respect given for the way the boat was skippered. He Had high regards for passenger comfort, and made endeavours To minimise roll. Kids still loved it even though rough, and youngest slept the whole thing. Had some very close whale encounter as we semi drifted with a pod of 2 adults and a calf for about half an hour. Thanks. No morning tea due to COVID. If he’s slowing getting back to you, keep ringing! He’s probably out on the water, it’s not a big operation.....

What a wonderful experience. Our family spent the morning with Coolangatta Whale Watching last Friday and had a ball. We headed out from the Ivory Marina around 8.20am, out via the Tweed Bar and and straight out to the whales. We were only a km or so out when we could see the whales breaching out on the horizon ahead of us. It was a little bumpy heading out but not too bad (just added to the excitement) and soon we were surrounded by a group of 3 very curious whales that came over to check out the humans. Soon a second group came over and there were also a couple further out just passing by. We only had a small group of 20 on the boat & no morning tea due to Covid 19 restrictions - all the more better to see the whales without the crowds. The only downside was an overcast day as the photos will show but we still had a great time. We would definitely recommend Coolangatta Whale Watching for a lovely morning out with a friendly & knowledgeable crew. Can't wait to go again.

Great experience.
It was grey and rainy when we left, so the covered cabin came in handy. But once we were out on the ocean the weather cleared and we could go up to the open deck (tip, bring something dry to sit on!).
The crew steered us to a pod of whales who then surrounded the boat and provided us with a spectacular show.

From the moment we boarded the boat we knew that this was going to be an amazing experience. The sandbar was a bit rough and was a small distraction to what awaited us further out. Beautiful glass like ocean, whales showing their behaviours to any females that would cast an eye their way. :) Breaching on the horizon, pec and tail slapping, blow, head rising and fluke up dives. Full cresting near the boat. Wow...how do these gentle giants manage to launch themselves so effortlessly and land with the grace of a well-trained gymnast?? The staff, and Captain Steven and 2 staff were lovely. Confident in their job and very interactive with the guests on board. It is recommended you take snacks and drinks, no morning tea on board, but you are so taken by the environment you don't eat!!! The "cruise" is approx. 3 hours but wow what an exhilarating and cathartic 3hrs.

Whales really did perform for us with breaching and flipper slapping. We saw a pod of at least five whales plus a number of other lone ones. Great weather and the water was very still. One disappointment was that there was no commentary throughout the whole trip unless you were close to the master and then it was bits and pieces. A good commentary both going out and information on the whales would have bee great.

Our original booking was cancelled due to weather (which was understandable) and a text message was apparently sent that didn't get thru to us on the morning which was slightly annoying, but Steve and the crew accommodated us 48 hrs later. It was a great experience with a friendly crew and plenty of whales to see. Some info about the whales during the tour would have been great to hear, although seeing them for the first time breaching and slapping their fins and swimming alongside the boat was certainly a wonderful sight.

A great day whale watching. From the moment we left the wharf the cruise along the Tweed river and across the bar was enjoyable. As soon as we cross the bar a pod of dolphins appeared as if pointing the skipper to the whales.
Within 10 minutes we saw our first pod of
Whales. That was just the start of an amazing day seeing many whales.
The Skipper and crew were extremely knowledgeable of where to find the whales and we got some great photos done videos.
Apart from seeing many whales the cruise along to Tweed coast and Gold Coast was well worth it.
I highly recommend going whale watching with Coolangatta whale watch.

A fantastic way to experience the migration of these amazing animals. The grew are very experienced and know the local conditions well. The boat is ideal for whale watching, there are clear views all around. Other operators I have been on crowd too many people aboard and unless something happens right in front of you, you just get a photo of the back of someone's head. The beautiful Tweed River is also a great place to start and end your journey.
