Visited Caves Beach Hotel
Great selection of beers especially the balter on tap, glasses were charged to the max no flat beers here.
Seafood plate was very nice for 2 as well as the Poke bowl with chicken
Bar staff very polite & bar area very large for quick service
Food service quite quick as well considering it was lunchtime on a Sunday very busy.
Great play area for the kids.
The views are great we were watching the whales as well splashing about.
Well worth a visit there is accommodation behind as well.

My daughter and her partner live in Caves Beach, just a 5 minute walk to the beach itself. On weekdays the beach is quiet and relaxing, busier at weekends and holidays. The caves and rock pools are just amazing and an excellent photo opportunity. The waves are very strong but the beach does have a lifeguard.
This must be the prettiest and most amazing beach I have ever been on.

Caves Beach is equal in popularity to Blacksmiths Beach South of there near Belmont and North to Catherine Hill Bay South of Wyong. Caves Beach is East of Swansea soon after crossing a bridge near the caravan park on the Pacific Highway.
Visiting there in my youth it was quite isolated whereas now it is a thriving housing estate including a tavern. All these beaches are very popular with picnic goers and surfers alike, with swells reaching 4 to 5 metre swells during inclement weather. Beware, they are real dumpers. Otherwise I would recommend them as a great family destination. They all include amenities and a kiosk. Accomodation is available nearby. Caves beach is particularly romantic, the caves are open to public access. The lighting on a rainy day reduces glare and the stark contrast associated with deep shade makes it an ideal setting for photography. The setting is amenable for large groups of people with limited wheelchair access via a paved thoroughfare. Limited parking is available if you get there early enough as it is very popular during the summer holiday season. I would recommend any of the abovementioned beaches, particularly Caves Beach. Finally, stay hydrated, slip on a hat, slop on some quality sunscreen and, slap on a long sleeved shirt, don't forget the sunnies and make sure to surf between the flags.

Caves beach is the most amazing place to explore.
However staying at caves beach resort was a disappointment.
The bungalows need some extra needed maintenance. We were given the corner bungalow. I would advise any adults wanting some quiet time to not ask for this bungalow.
It's connected to a gate that provides access to the rest of the resort and the pub. Anytime someone come in or out the gate would bang which is hard enough would cause the wall to rattle.
With it being a popular wedding venue you can imagine the gate was banging a lot.
Saturday and Sunday morning we were woken at 7am to loud music playing in the pub.
It's meant to be for adults only, however kids were running up and down the deck beside this bungalow.
The glasses still have left over orange juice in the bottom of them.
The power went off 3 times. Apparently something faulty.
With these things being said. The pub and food was amazing. We addressed the glasses which were replaced. And of cause the power issue.

Possibly the best beach in the Newcastle region. Safe waters a beautiful park and of course the caves to explore.Popular with families the beach is patrolled by paid life guards and volunteer life guards as well

Lovely beach. Nice little caves to explore at low tide. Beach is patrolled during Summer and has a cafe close by. There is lots of parking although I suspect on hot Summer days it could be overwhelmed.

The whole Caves Beach area is a really great place to visit with the local hotel and restaurants welcoming, clean and friendly. I can't speak too highly of the Caves Beach Day Care - the staff there are so caring, helpful and enthusiastic. My granddaughter goes there, and is always excited to go in the morning, and is always full of excitement and stories about her activities during the day

Good beach to go exploring with the family. Don't expect something extraordinary but some sea caves you can walk in and explore. Easy access to the first few but then it gets bit difficult. Check the tidal times before you go (these days low at 11 am) otherwise will get wet! Plenty of parking next to the beach.

I had only seen a couple pictures of the cave before, and didn't think too much of it. Seeing it in person was just amazing. It is not just one cave, but several, and there are multiple entrances. We got great photos from inside and outside the caves, and the kids had a great time running around.

Just a short hour drive from Sydney - great getaway place for family. Caves beach is great for young and old. Be prepared to get wet as waves are strong. Go play and wonder into each tiny holes- kids go crazy with hide and seek and water

Hi Smooch
The beach is on the eastern seabord so its great for ocean sunRISES. Lake Macquarie would be a better option for sunset cruises. I have no recommendations sorry. You could try googling "sunset cruises lake macquarie".

can I have a dog on the leash in the caves and on beach at caves beach?
Written April 17, 2019
I know this is now three weeks old, but yes we took pictures of people walking their dogs on the beach. One even approached us, and we took some pics with this cute one.
