Spectacular location, very busy, staff seemed a bit frazzled but that’s an occupational hazard. Coffees only warm despite our request for hotter. Paying became an IQ test as the staff member had no idea how to use cash register. Could have been a great experience watching the annual regatta parade below us in the pristine waters, so a bit disappointing.

Nelson Head Lighthouse Reserve & Inner Light Tea Rooms Cafe, Nelson Bay
Here you will find the LightRoom not the Lighthouse. The lighthouse is actually on Shark Island. The Lightroom would shine a light so ships could navigate through the bay. There is an interesting museum, worth a visit. As was the adjacent Cafe Inner Light Tea Rooms, nice food with stunning views.

Fabulous view, but you can get that other places in the area. An interesting "lighthouse" as it is different to most with excellent and friendly volunteers. Unfortunately parking can be tricky as there is not much of it and it shares with the cafe, also the WWII bunker etc is not able to be viewed.

A lovely outlook over Port Stephens. Not much more to say. I would rate it behind views from Gan Gan, from the South Head and Fingal bay, so if you are short on time this may be one to skip.

Excellent cafe/restaurant atop former lighthouse. Very good menu and food to match. Excellent service by super efficient commando like staff.
Spectacular location and views.
Booking prior to visit is advisable. Car parking can be tricky.

The whole area was bathing in sunshine when we went and the ocean was sparling blue. We ate morning tea at the cafe and it was delicious. The scones on our Devonshire tea were huge, fluffy and fresh. Don't leave Port Stephens without coming here.

There’s the lighthouse cottage cafe, but we didn’t bother as we wanted to get off to the Blue Mountains. Looked like a lovely spot for a coffee though. We went into the marine rescue command centre and spoke to two lovely volunteers about the work on dispatching life boats/ rescue and fire too. Really interesting. A small donation left.
You can drive up to the top, but we walked the last 5 minutes up a steep hill. 30 minutes to an hour is ample. Read the boards to learn more. So pretty and excellent views

We only found this place just before we were leaving. Wish we had found it earlier to have the devenshire tea. Very interesting information about the history of the place. Very well kept building & grounds (what else do you expect from volunteers??) Great views from top of the hill Well worth finding. Narrow road up, near Hallifax Holiday Park.

The most spectacular view I have seen since I left brisbane. The view is just breathing, the Crystal water, sand ,ocean and the two islands at the back. Mamma Mia! The lighthouse museum is interesting to walk through. We had a coffee at the tea room, staff friendly and view spectacular.

A little bit of history with some nice views out over the sea. Very popular with tourists and make a great cup of coffee. Also had a good range of food. If visiting for lunch make sure to book.

Have an older relative, how far is the walk from the Carpark?
Written November 9, 2017
About 25-50 metres and there’s a ramp. Many older people visit and seem to manage pretty well from car park. Hope that helps
Written November 17, 2017
Just wondering for those that went, how much was food for breakfast? Just wondering how much to take
Written June 28, 2017
Suggest $10-20 per person depending on how much you want to eat and drink!
