We booked the Montague Island Charters with some apprehension particularly the swimming with the seals part! The Island tour and lighthouse visit was informative and interesting. The views of the coastline from the top of the lighthouse are spectacular. We returned to the boat donned our wetsuits and took the plunge. The seals were friendly and swam around us, we... More

Enjoyed a brief swim with seals, followed by a 2-hour tour around Montague Island (Baranguba). Our guide was very knowledgeable, imparting his knowledge of the Aboriginal history of the island, the recent rehabilitation after years of abuse and the local flora & fauna. The tour ends with an ascent of the lighthouse, providing great views of the area. Was a... More

We did an island tour and then swam with the seals. It was a lovely excursion. The lighthouse is beautifully made and has a great view from the top. Be warned though that there is little shelter on the island. If you go in the summer, as we did, it gets very hot! Definitely take a hat and apply sunscreen.... More

Had the pleasure of snorkelling with the seals, these creatures are awesome. From the time you enter their water they scoot around and check you out. The big seal gets so close you can rub his tummy and look into his gorgeous brown eyes! Going again in a couple of weeks, can't wait!!

Wow, what can I say. From the moment we stepped ashore, Mark and Kel, the current custodians of the island, shared their passion and knowledge for everything Montague. The birds, the Aboriginal history, a look into the lighthouse keepers lives from over 100 years ago to current day, all stories fascinating and delivered with such passion and warmth. Highly recommended... More

After a fairly rough boat trip (25 knots winds and big waves) we got to snorkel close to a seal colony and the seals jumped into the water to come and have a look at us! What an experience! After our seal encounter we got onto the island where a NSW wildlife park ranger was waiting to take us on... More

We started out at 1 pm. getting out to the island. Along the way some spotted dolphins took a ride along our bow as we were approaching the island. Once we reached it, we headed up the hill encountering shearwaters, seagulls and even caught a glimpse of a penguin chick in a nest box. We went up to the lighthouse... More

A delightful little island off the coast of Narooma where nature and wildife are abundant. The island guided tours are a must, very informative filled with lots of historical facts and wildlife information and the climb to the top of the historic lighthouse is worth the amazing 360 degree views!!

Visited Montague Island recently with Narooma Charters. Just a short boat trip from the stunning Narooma Harbour you arrive on the island to be met by a National Parks and Wildlife Service guide who shows you around. Our guide was Mark; he was brilliant. Very friendly and laid back and knowledgeable about many different aspects of the island. The view... More
