This is a rare experience. A hike/climb from sea level to a 850m summit. Breathtaking views, well deserved after a quite challenging hike including rock climbing with ropes. Endemic flora. Our guide (compulsory),Jack, was perfect!

Climbed Mt Gower with the Environmental Tours company (you must go with a guide). Hard work (pulling yourself up on ropes in places) and exposed in places (walking around ocean cliffs) but you get rewarded with incredible views. Even if the cloud on the mountain never lifts you get to walk in a summit mist forest with palm trees that... More

A very challenging walk, but truly worth the effort, the views and vegetation were amazing, recommend Environmental Tours as a guide.

I did not really realize what was involved in this climb. I thought it was a steep hike. But, at least half the "trail" involved ropes. Ropes to get you up, and then down, rock faces. A real challenge!

It is a bit of a climb (from either way you start) but the view is amazing. It is a must do when on Lord Howe Island.

I did the hike with Jack Schick as leader. He is a 5th generation islander and has great stories to take your mind off the difficulty of the hike :) Our group was relatively young and so we took less than the average 9 hours to complete the 10km round trip. I took the advice of a local and did... More

I was so nervous before this walk. 10/10 difficulty they say. Climbing and ropes... Cliffs... Sounds scary, doesn't it? On the other hand they say: the oldest person doing it was 87, the youngest was 4. What does THAT tell you? :) I do not say it is easy! but PLEASE give it a go! I am 28, neither fit... More

Guided walk took 4 hours climbing straight up, including rough terrain and pulling yourself up with ropes. Would recommend fingerless cycling type gloves to assist with grip if weather is wet. Ropes for a bit slippery for me on climb down. Great sense of achievement once at the top.

My husband and his friend climbed this mountain whilst staying in paradise. It is not a walk it is a climb which requires the use of ropes with very steep grades. Five adults were on this trip not one of them used to climbing. It is often wet or damp which means it is very slippery. This climb should be... More

This was a challenging and dangerous experience. I did not feel the walk was very physical for me, but dangerous. The walk started at 7.30 is and finished at 4.30pm, due to the different fitness level of the 15 people doing the walking. Ropes were there along the way in the way up and down, but in may view, it... More
