Hard work, but worth the effort

A challenging walk but a magnificent experience. The mist forest at the top made the climb all worth while.

This was a walk we always wanted to do but not sure we would have done it if we had known what we were in for. Having said that it was a great experience and one I am happy to say I completed. There was no screening on fitness which meant that we had at least one person who should... More

A MUST for the bush walking enthusiast. Be prepared for exhilarating views along your walk. Enjoy the abundance of the bird life as Woodhens scamper around you and Currawongs eye your sandwich during your lunch break. Some sections are steep and require use of the anchored ropes for ascents and descents. Make sure you book in advance as this walk... More

My partner and l did the Mt Gower hike with Jack Shick. Jack was a great guide, very relaxed person and wealth of knowledge about all aspects of Lord Howe. The hike was quite challenging especially the steppest section. Definately well worth the effort and the views are just amazing from different spots along the way up!

My husband and I are in our 60s and reasonably fit and have undertaken various difficult walks worldwide. We did the Mt Eliza and Kim's lookout walks and although they were strenuous we enjoyed them and being grade 4. Being grade 4 we assumed we would have no problems with Mt Gower which was advertised at a grade 5. When... More

The Mt Gower trek takes all day and is quite strenuous but well worth the effort. Our guide, Dean was very informative pointing out flora and fauna and even calling down the Providence petrels. The view from the top was amazing , especially the beautiful lagoon with crystal clear water. At the top we saw orchids and ferns in the... More

We climbed Mt Gower on my 40th birthday, and what a great way to celebrate such a big birthday. This hike can only be done with a guide ($70 per person at the time of writing), unless you're a local. We met Jack (our guide) at the start of the hike, who commenced by handing out the obligatory waiver forms,... More

This is a strenuous all day walk. The overall distance is less than 10 kms but it is vertically a challenge with ropes on a number of sections to help climbing rocky or gravel sections. The views are worth the climb.

Definitely glad I climbed Mt Gower. It is challenging as much of it requires you to pull yourself up on ropes. It's up all the way there and down all the way back, but has some amazing plants and bird life. The providence petrels are incredible to see.

The highlight of our trip to Lorde Howe Island. The views were stunning. My most favourite day walk in Australia. We walked with experienced guide Jack. His experience and knowledge was exceptional.
