I recently travelled to Lightning Ridge as a teacher on a school excursion. Our final activity before leaving was to visit the Chamber of the Black Hand. Every single student from Year 3 to Year 6 was left mesmerised by the intricate and relevant carvings...More
Absolutely mind boggling to think someone has chipped away underground here for some twenty years and created such marvelous and varied sculptures. There are numerous steps to get down into the chamber, they do have a two person lift for those with a mobility problem....More
The best attraction in Lightning Ridge. You can do a self guided tour or join a mining guide for a separate tour at an additional cost. The sculptures are fantastic and so numerous. Make sure you look for "Wally" as you go around. This attraction...More

Absolutely fabulous. Could have spent more time here but had oldies waiting in the car. Very steep decent so not good for elderly people with not so good eyesight. The carvings were spectacular carved don a knife and folk. A must see.

Hi. Sorry I can't help you with children's prices. When I visited I had a group booking. The children would very much enjoy the carvings. I took a lot of photos just so that I could send them back to my grandchildren. The owners are lovely people and I'm sure they would be able to offer a family ticket.

Hi yep believe it or not they have eftpos. Funny story about that is that our tour guide on another tour was talking about town gossip and he told us to pay for the Chambers with eftpos because someone there puts their hand in the till regularly and he would be p*^sed off if everyone uses eftpos! And the tour guide said he didnt mind if we told everyone he said that! lol. Every tourist attraction is expensive and the town has to survive so I didnt mind paying $35 at all. You can go round as many times as you like, take your time. Its worth it. You can see over the years who the artist has improved his skills with his butter knife and fork. Like ronrob says, you'll never see anything like it anywhere else! Happy holiday
