We bought the snorkeling with turtles experience as a birthday gift for my 6 year old, a family memory we could all enjoy together. As locals, it's been on our to-do list for quite some time and thankfully it did not disappoint.
I was concerned about the lack of visibility out there after the rain and checked with the guys on the creek the day before, they assured me it was fine and I felt that they genuinely would have told me if it wasn't. My daughters being 6 and 8 were pretty nervous as it was a bit choppy and jumping out of the boat into the ocean obviously put them well out of their comfort zone. They were given noodles to float on and the guide Jess let my older more nervous child float on her safety device which calmed her down a bit. We had an incredible time looking underneath us at turtles, wobbegong, leopard sharks and all sorts of fish. One green turtle we saw was absolutely enormous, the kids eyes nearly popped out of their heads. Eventually, despite the wetsuits, my youngest got too cold and sat the 2nd half out on the boat. My other daughter joined her not long after and the skipper Chris made an excellent babysitter while I finished off my underwater experience. All in all I found the Watersports Guru very well organised, they offered timely and accurate information, and I felt like my kids and I were in safe hands out there as inexperienced snorkelers. We also learnt some fascinating facts about the effect climate change is having on turtle populations (thanks Jess). I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a gift that helps reduce waste and creates memories. The kids had a great time and they have been talking about what they saw to whoever will listen. It was a fantastic way to end what's been a terrible year. Thanks Jess, Chris and the rest of the Watersports crew, we will be back for sure.

Our snorkel guide Cass was very friendly and great at finding turtles, we saw a lot! 😊 One was very big and a couple swam very close to us when surfacing to take a breath. They are so beautiful ❤ Bonus was a couple of batfish that hang around the mooring line, I was equally excited to see them 😁

Our skipper Chris was very funny and he's very skilled navigating the boat through the sandbar, which is quite an experience in itself!

Due to bad weather condition we had to reschedule our trip 3 times but the staff was very helpful in trying to find suitable time. We're glad we get to do it before leaving Gold Coast, it's worth the wait!

My family and I had an absolutely fabulous time on the snorkelling tour with turtles. 10/10 from us for sure. My wife and I brought our 10, 8, and 6 year old kids along, which we were reassured would be absolutely no problem from the first phone call (they can all swim and are comfortable in the water, but happily used pool noodles after they got a bit tired from being in the water a while).

We checked in with a few places over the phone but the guy on the phone made us feel comfortable with his knowledgeable answers to our questions.

Keri - our guide - was very relaxed and was especially good with our kids. We knew we were in good hands. Gear was great (wetsuits, snorkels, masks, fins).

Chris was an enthusiastic skipper, humorous, and informative about where we were, what we’d expect on the ride, and was quick to point out things we saw along the way.
Keri was great in the water with us, helping us experience turtles and other underwater life that was close enough to reach out and touch (don’t worry - we didn’t, and nobody should!).

The pictures she captured of our family that were posted online afterwards were terrific. Seriously, we couldn’t say enough about a once in a lifetime adventure for our family vacation. Both Keri and Chris seemed genuinely pleased to have shared the experience with us, and to ensure we enjoyed ourselves to the max. Awesome.

Took my two kids on the 8am Snorkel with Turtles tour out at Cook Island Reserve yesterday.
Jess was our snorkel guide & Chris was our skipper.. both were professional, friendly & experienced. They kept us entertained & on the lookout for dolphins during the boat ride out to Cook Island & as soon as we were anchored it was straight into the water & spotting turtles, leopard sharks, corals & so many fish.
It was great to have a knowledgeable guide to point you in the right direction for the best chance of seeing as much sea life as possible (& to keep my kids from snorkelling out to sea !) & the small tour group numbers meant a more interactive & personal adventure for us.
By the time we were back on dry land, the kids were already asking when we could go again.. it definitely won't be long !

An excellent trip. Chris and Cass were perfect guides on the snorkelling trip to Cook Island; professional, friendly and funny, ensuring we were comfortable and safe at all times. We saw a whale slapping it's fin in the water on the way to the island. We then saw an abundance of sea life while snorkelling, including (giant) turtles, puffer fish and wobbygong. Nothing was rushed and we felt like they cared about giving us the best experience. Highly recommend. Thank you guys :-)

We’ve just returned from an incredible turtle snorkelling tour with Watersports Guru. They postponed our trip a few days due to the visibility after the rain as they wanted to ensure a pleasant experience for us all. Which we were impressed by. They’re an experienced and cheerful team who really made the day great. Chris the amusing skipper has been taking people snorkelling at Cook Island for 20 years and Jess our guide was informative and confident managing our group which ranged from 10 to 65 years old and all differing swimming abilities. Our family are experienced snorkellers and we were AMAZED by what we saw! A pod of dolphins on the way to the island, and then about 40 turtles (as well plenty of other marine life). The whole tour was managed brilliantly from beginning to end. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend this established company for a unique turtle snorkelling experience.

Beautiful experience from start to finish. Lovely and accommodating tour guide and skipper and we knew we we in safe hands. They are keen to make sure the turtles and all sea life are treated with respect whilst making sure everyone has the best time. We highly recommend the company and took one of their river kayak tours earlier in the year too.
The turtles were stunning and we felt so privileged to be able to visit them. As well as giant turtles, saw a Wobbegong, an octopus, puffer fish and coral.
There were dolphins very close by on the way and a whale in the distance coming back.
An unforgettable experience given by such a professional and lovely team.

So this is an honest review and my first TBH. The staff Cass and Chris are amazing! Honestly nice people and want you to have the best time possible with the spotting a of turtles, dolphins and whales. Although I did see all three, I’m a greedy guy for the sea, so wanted more. Not that the time was less or hurried (more than enough snorkel time), just the day might have been off or possibly late in the season(July/august). Chris has a solid sense of humour. I want to add that Cass was amazing and not only showed us everything and explained it all but also dropped me to a bus stop as I would have been stranded otherwise. I am truly indebted to her and wish to thank her once again for helping me out. I will go back to them if I’m in the area but at an earlier season.

I totally recommend Watersports Guru.

We had booked the swimming with turtles for 21st December, which got cancelled due to weather conditions. Luckily we were able to reschedule for today 27th December at 11am.
The team has been fantastic answering all our questions, handling communications for the reschedule etc.

The experience of the swimming with turtles was A M A Z I N G. Our guide and boat captain were very knowledgeable and fun. Our guide on the water was constantly keeping us safe and showing and explaining all the marine life. She was incredible.

My 14yo daughter and myself have truly enjoyed our day. It has been fantastic.

Thank you very much for making this experience a M E M O R A B L E one. We will be back for sure!!!

Highly recommend this trip for all ages. Spent over an hour up close and personal with turtles, wobbygongs, reef sharks and lots of colourful fish. Spent some time with dolphins on the way over to Cook Island who seemed to love having us there thanks to their friend Chris the skipper. Our guide Tuzzi, was excellent with knowledge and spotting, settling youngsters and guiding but giving us freedom to explore. She also took great photos of most of the creatures we saw. Water was a bit choppy, murky and cold due to recent rain, so length of time in water was well timed and still saw many, many creatures.
