There is no signage and basically you are not able to view the spiral. It should not be advertised as a tourist spot

Took both routes of the spiral via rail. The views from the train were fantastic and aligned well with traditional rural stereo-types. There appeared to be limited access via road. Recommend it for a day trip from Cootamundra or points further north.

Great to see such a unique piece of engineering. Very few in the world and this one so accessible. Worth stopping off.

The Bethungra Spiral is a Railway loop feature north of Junee, it was built in the 1940s and is apparently the largest such loop in Australia. Turn off north of Junee on the 'Waterworks' Road. Firstly you travel under the high Railway support arches and...More

We took our Qld friends to have a look at this amazing feat! Very impressive! We just missed a train going through, which would have been an extra bonus. The little village of Bethungra is worth a look also.

When it was found that a second line was required between Sydney and Junee, there was a problem. A hill, a hill of Pre Cambrian solid rock. To go straight through was impossible and to divert around was impossible. The solution was to spiral round...More

Worth the effort. About 30km from Junee, but if you are keen on extraordinary rail structures this one is a must. Be prepared to travel on the gravel Waterworks road to get a glimpse.

Best viewed north bound. Visit the Junee roundhouse, or lookup a rail fans website. You can walk down from near the level crossing at the top. There are views on you tube as well When looking from the road the middle road is the down...More

The gps showed the loop but found no roads leading to it. Another couple found the tunnels by accident but no signs to or at it. Still looking
