My niece and I visited on Saturday 9th July 2016. What an amazing experience. I would highly recommend it! Our hosts Sophia and Lawrence made our experience truely rememberable. It was a bit spooky to have my hair stroked whilst eating dinner, by one of their resident spirits, but this soon stopped once the tour got started. My niece got... More

Had a server car accident that left me injured and without a vehicle to travel from Qld to Melbourne. This accident was not fault caused by me and yet i was very disappointed that i was hospitalized and not refunded a cent. All other accommodation that was booked, even one with a policy of no refund had empathy and refunded... More

What a lovely amazing homestead. My mother and I stayed the night at Monte Cristo, it has that typical old dusty and cobwebby feel about it. I enjoyed my night at the homestead, the stories, food and tour were good. The rooms were basic hostel style with lovely warm showers and electric blankets for the cold winters months, I would... We recently stayed overnight at Monte Cristo and did the ghost tour, the tour goes for about 4 hours which was painfully long as they spend most of their time talking about their own family and experiences other groups have had (or so they say), we did not experience anything apart from hearing footsteps upstairs which was obviously someone they... The homestead is beautifully in regards to its history and the antiques around the house. Great disappointment in regards to the Ghost Tour. The two tour guides (owners' son and partner) alternated each other for 4 plus hours telling stories about different experiences other visitors had had or the story of the Crowley's family filled with drama and mind games... The building was clearly loving restored many years ago. However, it is now in need of repair in many places. Wall paper is peeling from walls and large, dusty cobwebs hang in all rooms We enjoyed the very few (3) posted notices providing historical stories of events and former residents. If possible, it would be great to see more information... More

I really enjoy looking through the house and seeing all the old furniture. It is definitely a step back in time. There are some sections which I think they would be able to restore or fixed up. Some parts are looking run down. There is obviously a lot of history surrounding this house and it would be nice if there... More

This is a good place for a look around. Hear the story of the ghost that resides in the building. There are many rooms to discover. History of the pioneers throughout.

We visited the homestead at Easter. It has been beautifully restored and contains a great collection of antique furniture and artifacts. The homestead has a very interesting history as well.
