Took a drive out here to see the Aboriginal art. I didn't expect to be so emotionally overwhelmed by what I saw. Seeing some of the oldest art in this country is breathtaking, and the surrounding landscape is not to be missed. Definitely recommend everyone...More

An interesting drive from Cobar to the Mt Grenfell Historical Site as lots of goats on the road - all very road-savvy though. Although the three art sites are only 500m from the car park we took water (just in case). Well worth the walk.

Indigenous paintings, awesome views and some surprise sites to see on the walkabout track to the top of Mt Grenfell. Worth the drive off the highway. Good road mostly. Dunnies and picnic area at carpark.

We were really impressed with this site. If you have the right vehicle to get there on the rough dirt roads, an interest in indigenous art, are reasonably fit and enjoy bushwalking - this is the place for you! Two of the three rock art...More

Visited the area very early morning, had a great time walking around. Early or late walks are nice and avoiding mid day heat is best. Spotted lots of "friendly" wild life and kept an eye out for the "unfriendly" as warned. Being able to camp...More

Interesting. Long drive on unsealed road - avoid driving it at dusk as there were lots of kangaroos. More interpretations of the art work would be helpful. Landscape was quite beautiful and distinctive; very different to surrounding area. Good facilities, and well marked walking trail.

Take some time to explore and do the walking trails/tracks and take in the scenery, make sure you take plenty of water. The paintings are a short walk from the entrance area.

After a good drive along dirt road for 30km you come to the best example of rock art I have seen. It is very accessible 200m walk from a gravel carpark to the three art caves/walls. There is a dry creek bed which had some...More

There is 30 kms of dirt road from the highway and it’s a bit rough on the last few kilometres at the Mt Grenfell end. Best if you have a 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle, but might be manageable with careful driving... More
