Unless you are a fan of walking, you will hate this like we did. The wind was way too windy for us, and we just took one look at this and turned back. No way. If they build a cable car then we will think about it. My wife slipped on a area of dirt and broke her sandal and had to carry it back to the car. If you have ever tried walking with one sandal you will know how horrible it can be. Luckily we we only a few feet from the car in the carpark so it wasn't a problem but it could have been. I would have enjoyed seeing inside the lighthouse as well, I am a collector or miniature lighthouses and really wanted to buy one to add to my collection.

The walks around the lighthouse are just amazing, do not drive up actually put on some shoes and experience the fairly easy trek up. Gorgeous

Lighthouse Trail is a nice, easy walk to the most easterly point on the Australian Mainland. Its a must do whilst you're in Byron Bay.

This walk is just stunning. You go past the pass, wategoes beach and stunning coastline on the way up to the lighthouse. National parks on their website said it was an easy walk. I disagree. There are a lot of stairs up and on the walk down if you take the road way once that finishes your on bush track with big stairs down and up. Well worth it but be prepared with water and sunscreen

Not for the faint hearted (stairs) - it’s definitely a work out, but do it at your own pace and plenty of places to sit and gaze. But the views are really worth it, we even saw a couple of whales. Make sure you go back through the rainforest.
