After a 2 DAY stay in Canberra we decided to lunch here on our way home.
We had the pasta, burger,Pork and wine all delicious. be sure to leave room
for deserts.Busy place but service was excellent.Highly recommend .

we were here for a wedding reception and were totally impressed with everything associated with the service, the setting and the occasion. Food was served family style, but was tasty and plenteous. Service was fine....

Great food and ambience.
Brusque service spoils the experience. Staff were not welcoming, sounded aggressive when they spoke, reached over people to drop and collect plates.

Everything was great except the pizza was dead average (excess rubbery cheese). Good wine and southern fried chicken burger was a highlight.

Lovely flavorful food pressed lamb. Steak was nicely cooked but lacked some flavor.
Definitely not fine dining service. No one welcomed us in, we had to wave down someone for our first drink order after a long wait and ended up skipping dessert and coffee just because it all seemed too hard for them. Had to come up and ask to pay after being left with no follow-up.

I bought a book and the senior woman behind the counter managed to process the entire transaction without uttering more than 2 words...not even a hi, or thank you, or half-hearted smile.How rude.

An absolute fabulous venue for those special occasions. Having canapés by the lake or strolling around the historic gardens; enjoying a tasting in the cellar bar or a full menu in the Book Barn, Bendooley does it so well.
A great team of staff work quietly and unobtrusively around you so that you event is perfect. Look forward to returning one day just as a tourist.

We attempted to go to Bendooleys for coffee and cake. The lady was rude. We weren’t allowed to sit near the fire. We had to sit in a different area as long as there was no cutlery settings on the table which left little choice. They hadn’t started the other heater/fire. They had one cake and no other options.
Together with another group we left. With out cake or coffee. Very unwelcoming. We found another cafe close by which was fantastic.

More than 100 of us descended on the Bendooley Estate Stables venue for my daughter's wedding.
What an amazing custom designed venue for big celebrations.
We called into the Book Barn first, to bring back memories of the late 1970s fossicking through all the old books and buying special finds. I remember Leo Berkelouw from then.
The Stables is a brilliant building. It looks great from the outside and the inside is perfect for purpose. private rooms for the bridal party, floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the countryside, a massive iron fireplace, which we needed as it was so cold, and room for a big group.
The service under Marco was brilliant. Food and wine and non-alcoholic drinks flowed endlessly. The food quality was very high. After the canapes served before the meal, the most memorable for me were the whole shoulders of lamb, amazing beef, roasted vegetables and so much more. We ate far more than we should have!
Dancing was easy with so much open space between the restaurant and the bar.
I should mention that I walked my daughter down the long path from the carpark and the actual wedding was held in front of the huge barn doors with a floral arrangement overhead. It looked magnificent.

Lots and lots of books, I wanted to bring home so many more than the 5 a purchased.
Range of topics is astounding and the atmosphere is terrific.
We were actually there for a wedding reception and you can still purchase books whilst the function was underway so made the most of it.
