We went today after chatting to the manager through the website to do a teen driving experience. Essentially under 17s can drive a car of their family around for the hour navigating the 4.5 miles of road. We had an amazing day, the cafe smelled amazing and it is a great morning out for any car keen teens. Would highly recommend.

My 14 year old son was given a voucher for a driving experience by his grandparents for his birthday.

We went along on bank holiday Monday and he had a good hour’s worth of expert and friendly tuition by instructor Gary. Gary started by explaining the controls and within 10 minutes Henry was driving. He drove around the airfield, did hillstarts, u turns, parallel parking, slaloms around cones and reversing using the rear view mirror. Henry didn’t stop smiling for the duration of the lesson (or for the rest of the day!). Thank you so much for such an amazing experience! He’s absolutely desperate to come up again!

There is also a lovely cafe and great campsite on site.

Visited as my partner's father served there in WW2. We were made most welcome in the cafe which sells snacks and non alcoholic drinks by a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful lady. We only had coffee and crisps as we had recently had breakfast. Sadly I didn't look at the menu but I believe hot food is available. The airfield is still a functioning one for small/ light aircraft. Other activities at this site include an 'under 17 driving school, a hovercraft experience, aircraft hire for training and private hire, microlight flights and a club. Fuel & hangarage are available. There is a War Memorial adjacent to the Control Tower in memory of those who served there in WW2. A book is available to buy with some very interesting facts about the airfield. We were allowed to drive along the perimeter road to visit the bomb pens and you cannot but enjoy the scenery as the airfield is right on the north Cornwall coast; the South West coastal path abuts the airfield. A truly interesting morning. Well worth a visit.

Although a variety of special events take place her we only visited on a walk and had tea in the cafe, very laid back and informal, almost a help yourself and use the honesty box approach!

What a hidden treasure the airfield is.Tucked away off the main roads but clearly signposted. We took a trip to look at the airfield and aircraft and was surprised to see how many activities actually take place there.Tiny but really good Cafe dispenses hot drinks and food and there are many places to sit and view the aircraft taking off and landing. There is a memorial to the RAF Squadrons stationed there during the war and the whole place has that real old seat of the pants flying atmosphere from an earlier era. If you get the chance visit for a while and enjoy the bustle of the activities.

Lovely site with great views of the Airfield . Well maintained site. The cafe is great, the staff are very accommodating. The cafe has limited seating, however we will certainly try to visit this summer with the family. We never knew that this fantastic facility was on our doorstep!

Sharing this visit is wonderful glimpse into genuine WWII airfield which was much in use during that war, and can bring it to life, and an emotional experience for families, especially the children. It was a real part of the trauma of fighting with aircraft!

Not everyone would be impressed by the old airfield, but I found it a moving place - so many strong emotions, such a mixed group of men from so many places, and so many who did not return. There is a moving little war memorial to them all.Cafe in the old air control tower serves basic refreshments. The airfield will become even more of an Activity Centre soon.

The airfield has a small cafe offering hot food. I fly my aircraft in here several times each year when visiting the local area. Lovely location.

Take time out to investigate this second world war site to see the aircraft parking bays still in great condition. Take the coastal path between Perranporth and St Agnes. Well worth the adventure.
