Great place to visit, plenty to see good cafe and very informative of yesteryear. And it's at the bottom of my road.

Only spent about an hour here but the history & beam engine was brilliant. This place is a lot to see in an hour. The dark tunnels are spooky & great.

We expected a quick visit, however we were treated to 3 hours of tours and interest. Be aware, this location is across two sites and is well worth giving time to. Talk to your guides, show interest, ask questions and you will be reward with an excellent visit. Go, enjoy.

This NT property is set over 2 sites within an urbanised area – the first building with its own car park is across the road from Morrison’s whist the second complex is accessed from the supermarket’s car park The first building houses a beam engine that was used to bring up both men and mined material and is set over 3 floors – we had a very helpful guide who took us through the history of the Cornish engine and its role in mining tin The second property is more extensive and houses a much larger beam engine – your journey starts with a short film on tin mining and its impact on the environmental and social history of this part of Cornwall – then when arriving at the building housing the beam engine there is another well informed guide to give you more information – this beam engine in addition to powering lifting mechanisms for men and material also acted as a pump to take water from away from the mining process – the water was then deposited into a stream that had an outfall in St Ives where it often coloured the water red….. Not being set within the usual towering and wild backdrop I feel it would be easy to overlook these properties which would be a shame as they have a lot to offer – thank you….
