Said to have been hurled by an angry God in response to violation of His Sabbath day, these three large stone circles are built close together and vary in size from 105 feet to 135 feet across.

Just outside Minions, there's a small free car park where you can stop and take a walk to three prehistoric stone circles. They are easily accessible and worth the walk especially if the weather is good. It does get boggy and wet and the wind...More

If the weather was like this in early September, what must it be like in the winter? Wind and driving rain, and the ground was sodden underfoot, but this just added to the atmosphere. Easy to get to from the car park, but far enough...More

A short walk over grass to stone circles and rock formations. The tin mine to the right of the stone circles is actually a visitors centre (unmanned), but we'll worth a visit. The very small village of Minions has three tea shops, although I can't...More

Saw the Hurlers and went to see as weather was atrocious. Rain and mist followed by fog. Too bad to push on to see the Cheesewring. Anyway a track runs east to west so head south. Use phone compass. If up at Cheesewrigs just head...More

The Hurlers and nearby Cheesewring are fascinating historical and geological features for this area. Excellent walking in the area and a good picnic spot for families. The nearby cafe and pub, which serves good food all day, are both very good.

The parking is free and there are some great information boards that you can read that give you the history of the stones and renovation work that has been carried out. We went on a warm evening and the ground was very dry but do...More

It's well worth a visit to see what the Ice Age and our predecessors left us. Park up for free, put on some walking shoes and go visit. You'll see wild ponies, some stone circles and then the stone stacks created by the Ice Age....More
