The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic houses one of the world's largest...

The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic houses one of the world's largest collections of items relating to witchcraft, the occult and magic. With over 3000 objects, a wise woman's cottage, a herb garden and a shrine it is a memorable place. It has been in the picturesque Cornish coastal village of Boscastle since 1961 and is one of Cornwall's most popular museums rated highly on TripAdvisor. The Museum intrigues visitors with its collections of charms, curses, herbs and healing and sea witchcraft. Some of our most popular items are magical tools such as glass knitting needles, objects which were used for scrying such as black mirrors, crystals and crystal balls and our collection of protection talismans made by soldiers in the trenches of World War One. The Museum also has an extensive library with other 7000 books and an archive of documents which can be viewed online or visited by appointment.

Took a trip to Boscastle with visiting the Museum as one of the things we wanted to do. Our dog was welcomed along with us. We were told that it would take around 45 minutes to an hour to go round, after seeing the building from the outside were not convinced (it did not seem large enough). However we were... More

I have always found this subject fascinating, and was recommended to visit by a friend of mine. I was not at all disappointed and felt it was well worth the admission charge. There are some great artefacts and learnt a great deal from my visit. My children (ages 10 and 13) were totally engaged and asked lots of questions. There... More

I found the museum very dated in places. Although some of the content is interesting, I found the £5 admission charge a bit steep for what you actually get.

Thank-you for visiting the Museum and for taking the time to comment on your visit. Unfortunately we have to charge admission as this is our main source of income and we receive no external funding. We are comparably cheap and we try to keep our ticket prices as low as possible as we want as many people to visit us... More

Decided to take my 7 year old who had shown an interest, very receptionist who explained what was on offer and his to get the best from the visit. On making our way round hundreds of interesting exhibits with great descriptions, but I would suggest under 10s a little to much info to take in without lengthy explanation. I really... More

Thanks for visiting the Museum - we're glad to hear you enjoyed it! Having an expert on hand would be beneficial for visitors but we are a small team and don't have the funds to have many members of staff on shift at the same time. There is always someone on reception if you want to ask questions or make... More

Lots and lots to see. Entry seemed relatively expensive. Probably takes half to one hour unless you look at every single thing.

Thanks for visiting and we're glad that you found lots to see. We have thousands of objects and one of the most frequent comments for visitors is that they wished they had more time! Many people spend an hour or more in the Museum and find it to be good value for money. Sorry that this wasn't your experience. In... More

We stayed in port isaac for a 4 day break. We have visited boscastle before and it's always been lovely. This was our first time at the museum and it was so interesting! We both really loved it. We couldn't believe the amount of memorabilia they had. Really friendly lady at the entrance. All the memorabilia was very well explained... More
