Excellent small animal zoo!
Jun 2021
Wasn't too sure what to expect from this zoo, however we were more than pleased with our visit today. All the animals are in excellent condition and well cared for by the keepers.
Keepers couldn't do enough for us, including getting some of the friendlier creatures out of their enclosures for us to stroke - A skunk, a ferret and one of the Sulcada tortoises. They knew about the individual animals, their stories and where they came from and were eager to share their stories.
The entry price was reasonable, the cafe was good and the gift shop had a range of goodies suitable for all budgets. We will definitely be going back in the near future.

Well worth a visit
May 2021
Good variety of animals all in great condition. Great to be so close to the animals. Keepers are very knowledgeable and are passionate about the animals. They took animals from their compounds for us to hold/stroke. There was no rush, we went at our own pace. Clean toilets.
Outdoor play area for children and picnic tables.
Enjoyable for all ages, we went with grandchildren aged 9 and 5 and their parents, so got a family ticket and 2 adults. Prices £9 adult and £7 children, great value as can spend as long as you want.
Clean cafe with a good selection on the menu, reasonably priced.
Small gift shop with lots to choose from, something to suit every budget.

Great & Friendly Little Zoo
Oct 2020
This is a fantastic place to take small children or visit as 2 adults. You can get a close up look at the animals and it feels quite a personal 121 experience each time we have visited. The staff are very friendly and informative. There is a café on site and I'd highly recommend to people with small children as it is a very safe and secure environment.

A lovely little place with extra friendly staff
Sep 2020 • Family
The staff here are so friendly and you can get so close to the animals it's fascinating for our children aged 4 and 6. It is a small facility so we usually do a couple of laps to take it all in. There is often an animal being fed or a keeper who is happy to explain more about one of the animals which engages us all. We also love feeding the emu. Our kids love it here, when my son reaches 5 we will pay for the animal feeding experience. The cake is also pretty good!!

Had a cold and winding visit today. But was not disappointed at all. Lots to see. all the animals looked happy and will cared for. The keepers where very friendly and went out of they way to help us and where very knowable about all the animals felt like we were VIPs walking around.

And the Paths are nice and level giving easy access for anybody who's unsteady on their feet.

Exstrodnary keepers care for the animals and good interaction. Keepers tell you facts and interact we had a man named Joel. Brilliant a fair amount of animals and fairly rare one like albino raccoons also foxes and more iteraction is great and you can hand feed walbys and much more. small but well priced for the amount plus the experience are very well priced and the organiser is very cooperative and overall a great trip to pair with the tennis across the road overall well priced and good fun.

Lovely little zoo
Aug 2020
Found this little gem of a zoo while looking for things to do in north Lincolnshire. All the animals are really well looked after and have plenty of space in their enclosures and enrichment opportunities. The owners and volunteers were all very friendly and we could have talked to them all day about the animals and how the zoo came about. We ended up walking round twice and spent a good deal of time at each enclosure, followed by drinks and home made cakes (delicious!) Will definitely be coming back when the Lemurs arrive, if not before!

Are previous negative reviews valid?

Only if you are there for a free ride and have no respect for animal welfare or genuine interest in animal behaviour.

Only spent 20 minutes there, well that says all you need to know about those reviews!

Don’t get me wrong, we pulled up knowing nothing about Messingham zoo and thought, this is someones back garden - how wrong we were! Yes this is a small zoo but extremely intimate with their customers and the animals. We spent around 15 minutes per enclosure absorbing the environment and interacting with each species housed at the zoo. The zoo keepers are continuously walking around making themselves accessible to you to ask questions and learn more. We went not long after CV19 lockdown so still quiet and was guided by the main keeper around the whole zoo!!! No money can buy that. Every animal is sourced from respectable zoos or rescued and have clearly had time and care spend on them in which they follow their ‘dad’ like a hawk and love him so much when he approaches their enclosure. Sadly, due to CV19 we could not handle Pepè (the skunk) or the ferrets but we now know that in time, when we return we can when more restrictions are lifted. Everything about Messingham zoo is of the care and happiness of their animals and their customers!

Also houses a lovely cafè of homemade sandwiches!

£20 for two adults and one child - 3.5hours of an informative and entertaining visit

Fantastic place, fantastic price!

Is it worth the admisson fee???
Aug 2020 • Family
Me and my 2 young boys visited today (6th august) looks a nice little zoo when you enter. The staff who took our money was nice and told us about the way system in place. The animals looked like they were cared for very well, clean and tidy everywhere. We were there for about 20 minutes. £7 adults and £6 children under 4s free. Personaly i think it wasnt worth it i think the price needs to be reduced by a couple of pounds to make it worth it. Would i return in the future? maybe if the price was lowered
