    Antiques plus handcrafted goods
January 2021 Nice antique store with an assortment of unique items. There is an excellent selection of handcrafted goods, too, and we ordered a patriotic-themed set of four placemats. Outstanding craftmanship and such a great deal at $25 for a high-quality, handmade product.

    Unique Gifts in Unique Building
This a gift shop, in an area that is big on tourism. That said I find some of these reviews hysterically funny. You don't bring small children into a place where curious little fingers can't help themselves. People who are into old buildings aren't necessarily the best critics when it comes to quality and price of goods. Now if you like unique gifts in a building where they use some of the old woodworking devices as display pieces than you must stop. The owner is very pleasant and knowledgeable about the former use of the building.

A MUST SEE while visiting here!!
So much to see here! Unique items country style! Lots of locally made gifts and everyday items. I LOVE the bird houses! The store is neatly organized and clean. The historical information on The Old Woodshed is pretty cool too! I definitely would make this a MUST STOP while visiting Lancaster!

    Obnoxious Staff
My sister in law and I and our families (she has small kids and I have teenagers) were in Lancaster on a vacationa nd decide d we wanted to visit this store after seeing an ad in a tourist magazine. We drove out of our way and went in. The store had lots of handmade and interesting items which we would have wanted to purchase, only the woman running the store came over and told off one of the kids who she though t was climbing on something. She yelled before checking but the chukd was not climbing and we never left anyone unsupervised. A few minutes later she saw one of us pick something up to look at it and said " I cant have children touching my products. Just leave." We walked out shocked. If she really doesnt want children in the store there should be a sign on the door asking for them to be left outside. But she was very rude and unnecessarily so. We walked across the street to the "Old Candle Barn" where there were many more delicate items and the people couldnt have been nicer. We shopped there instead.

    The highlight of our trip
My mom has always loved the Amish and been fascinated by their lifestyles. We booked the trip to Intercourse so that she could experience a Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas. We were disappointed by how touristy and non Amish the Kitchen Kettle Village was. Then, we stepped into this store! I was immediately greeted by Fannie, the nicest Amish lady a person could ever meet. She pointed out all of the locally made items and she didn't mind when we asked that we asked some questions about the Amish. She expressed how much she enjoyed talking with the tourists, but was quick to remind us that the Amish are people too and are not that different from everyone else. We bought several cute things, many made by Fannie herself, and were happy to take away at least one truly authentic Amish experience.

    Not Much To See
Being an historian and very into the 18th & 19th centuries, any building built in that era fascinates me. So walking past the "Old Woodshed" My fiancée would have passed right by (not so enamored by history) but I pulled her in. Except for the architecture (which wasn't very impressive, just old) the crafts and items here were both kitchy and overpriced.

Best Place to visit in Intercourse, PA
You can tell from the street view, this place is unique and has more than just local goods to offer. As soon as we walked in, Fannie was greeting us and making us feel welcome. She sews handmade items in the store, but prefers working on them at home where she can get more accomplished. You can see the old wood-working machines around the store, to include an old elevator to upstairs storage, old wiring across the ceiling beams with an original old Edison bulb still working, as well as wood remnants stored in the ceiling. Great nostalgic feel with local goods. If you want a great experience in Amish country, this is it. Stop by and support the talented locals.

Quiet, cool, and authentically Amish goods
Intercourse is a lot more touristy than I would have expected but we appreciated this shop! It's a little bit out of the way and so if you are just walking the main strips you might miss it. The outside doesn't look like much... It really is an old wood shed! But inside its full of many beautiful little treasures and we found prices here to be the most reasonable of any place in town. A sweet older Amish woman was working as well as another staff woman. She complimented me on wearing a sundress and was so sweet and friendly. They had a very pretty baby quilt with the best price I saw anywhere in town! If only I had a baby girl to buy it for! They also had great prices on cute Amish porcelain dolls and quite a few other items. There is a selection of everything from cute home wear to aprons to China. I would certainly recommend making this one of the stores you make sure to visit!

Look Beyond and Above and Below the Trinkets
My husband and I wandered into this store while on our visit to Intercourse, PA. It is a lovely, very old building. They sell all sorts of things, traditional Amish items, like aprons, hats, pot holders, etc. Tourist items, prints, the usual things one finds in the shops in Intercourse. They also sell antique items, any of which I would have gladly taken home. But what is more important here, is what most people don't even see. This building housed a Wood Shop for building carriages, or just about anything, and the original tools are still there in the building right where they were left when the building was sold and became a gift shop. We were fascinated by the antique machinery such as the drill press, lathe, and other antique tools powered by a huge belt system, all still in the exact places when they were in use! The entire building is a museum of wood working and nobody even notices! The original floors, walls, the entire building itself is a treasure and should be considered a landmark of historical importance! We aren't sure if it has that designation or not, but it should. The owner of the shop told us that most men don't even notice the machinery. Huge wooden work benches now hold all sorts of gift items, the rafters hold other old tools, it's just a fantastic look back into the days before power tools, when everything was built by hand or horse powered machinery. What a secret this shop houses, we spent our entire time there looking at the old machinery! If you get a chance while in Intercourse, stop into The Old Woodshed, for a trip back into history. It's all there, you just have to look. We agree that anyone who enjoys working with wood and tools, would find this store fascinating.

Last minute decision to stop and check out the shop. Was greeted warmly and shown around. The gentlewoman located the perfect table runner, matching apron and hot pads for my taste before I even knew I was looking for them. I was so pleased with my purchases, I will definitely be shopping here again whenever I can make it back to Pennsylvania.

My sister has already put in her order for my next visit and I really wish there was an online store. However, with so many handmade items in so many patterns, it would be impossible not to "be there" to make your selection.

Many humorous signs entertained us and several of the larger items I realized I should fly over and rent a U-Haul to furnish my house with.

We never made it to the place we intended to visit and I'm not a bit sorry! Thank you for helping to make my visit a very special occasion!

We stumbled across this little store and my husband suggested we go in. I am so glaf we did because this was my FAVORITE part of our visit to PA. There was an Amish lady working in here. She greeted us as soon as we walked in. She explained the whole layout of the store and talk with us in general pretty much the entire visit. She did let us go on and look at one point and in doing so my husband noticed some of the tables and then the conveyer belts. She went on to tell us the story behind the store and showed us how some of tables were actually old table saws. My husband was so interested in the history of all the equipment. I can not tell you how nice the lady was! I could of stayed there all day listening/talking with her!! Thanks ...we enjoyed very much!!!
