Set majestically on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning...

Set majestically on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning promises a unique experience not to be missed where your visit includes both dinner and a show all under one roof in a beautiful converted water mill.

Start your visit with a drink (or two...) in the Water Wheel Bar or, if you visit us in the summer, take a sunny seat outside on the Mill Stream Terrace. From the bar you will make your way upstairs to our restaurant, with views out over the mill stream, where you will find your tickets and programme waiting on your table. The main course is served in buffet style but our friendly staff will be on hand to take your drinks and dessert orders. After enjoying our mouth-watering menu, prepared daily in our kitchens using only the best locally sourced ingredients, you can make your way into the main event of your visit - the theatre!

The Mill Theatre itself is an intimate venue, seating just over 200 people, air conditioned with spacious and comfy seats that won't leave you longing for legroom or calling for a cushion. During the year we produce a wide variety of plays in the theatre, ranging from comedies to thrillers, as well as hosting regular music and comedy nights that will have you dancing and rolling in the aisles.

Whatever your tastes, in both theatre and food, you will be sure to find something to whet your appetite here at The Mill.

We went to see 'High Society' and had a wonderful evening. We had the buffet meal, which was excellent given it was mass catering, which can often be inadequate. The staff were attentive, helpful and very efficient. The only draw back was the queue for the meal, which I have no idea how they can resolve. Sorry for not coming... More

My wife and I went to the last night of the High Society production(14th January). The show was excellent and the intimacy of the auditorium adds a little something extra to the overall experience. The dining arrangements do, however, do tend to spoil the evening somewhat. Although the food was very good, having to queue up for self service and... More

Four of us enjoyed a very nice meal and a great show (High Society) Eating at the Theatre makes for a very relaxed night out.

On Saturday 7th January, my sisters and I went along with my mother to see High Society at The Mill Theatre as a Christmas gift to our mother. We all had an amazing experience from start to finish; The venue was impressive with a comfortable atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff, the food was 'simply the best' in terms of quality... This is a lovely idea for an evening out, and both shows that I've seen now have been very good. The dinner is early - 6:30 to fit it in before the performance. The slight downside for me is the refectory-style concept for the main course, where you queue up and self-serve and then negotiate your way through the tables... More

9 of us went for the lunch and show (high Society) the show was excellent as was the food. The buffet had many choices from Turkeys, Lasagne, salmon, and more also sweets where available. For £ 52.00 this was excellent value for money, we had been before to an evening show also excellent.

Some friends had tickets for High Society and invited me along. The Mill is an architectural gem and works splendidly as a theatre. Delightful staff and an energetic and well cast performance with dinner too. There is also a bar that's very friendly and again, I must applaud the delightful staff there too.

We visited The Mill at Sonning for the first time on New Year's Eve. We were a group of six friends. It was a wonderful way to see in the New Year. Dinner was excellent, plentiful and offered a good choice of four main courses served buffet style. Our group ate the venison pie which was delicious while some tried... More

We have been regulars at the Mill at Sonning New Years Eve Dinner Theatre Shows. The Theatre was an outstanding a production of High Society. Great songs and very good performers. The pre dinner food was slightly disappointing on the food front but the staff were warm and friendly. The after show supper food was unfortunately not vey apertising. The... More

This was the first time I'd been to The Mill Theatre and the only reason I left London to go the village of Sonning Eye is because Felicity Kendall was there, starring in 'Room With a View'. That's the wonderful thing about theater in the U.K.: many little towns manage to provide high quality productions to the community. I suspect... More
