A lovely little museum in the heart of Barnsley. A variety of exhibits from mining, local industries, the local football team, schools, olympic winners etc. Very varied and interesting. Worth a visit for an hour or more.

Very informative place for local information. Well laid out and does have hands on exhibitions. Easily accessible. Free entry. Friendly staff. Suitable for young and old.

Great information of days gone by.It covers the mining ere,Barnsley football club in great depth.Very impressed with the biulding too.I wonder why ive never visited here before.

For a long time was miners offices known as Arthur's Castle . That's Arthur Scargill leader of the miners during the great strike. Lots of stuff here Barnsley bitter, Dickie Birds trophies, story of mining, Staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable

Housed in the town hall, I found the displays to be poorly lit and depressing. Obviously the museum is about Barnsley, but I felt it did not offer too much of interest for a non-local. Can't see that I'd want to go back.
