I booked and paid for a sofa for their screening of Kinky boots online, only to be told when I arrived that the website had been incorrect and I would need to pay double to keep my booking! Apparently they tried to call to let me know, but funnily enough the manager couldn’t find a missed call on my phone from their number. Really not impressed with this cowboy behaviour, I’d rushed back from a weekend away to make the showing and had to fight my way to be downgraded to a normal seat so that my friend and I could still see the show without having to fork out twice as much as expected.

Not sure how the business doesn’t understand that you can’t charge people more than the price stated online - pretty sure this compromises the Treating Customers Fairly act and am very tempted to report it to the FCA.

I’d 100 percent rather watch a film here than any other cinema. It has a wonderful atmosphere, good/ fair prices, very comfortable and just an all round great experience. So much nicer than the rip off cinemas that are an eye sore to look at.

I am female in my mid 70`s and was refused entry to a mid day showing of Matilda which was apparently billed as a baby friendly session..

There was no obvious indication that having a baby in tow was an exclusive requirement.
I fail to see how the presence of an old lady would have inconvenienced any parents who subsequently attended the show on a bitterly cold December day
Staff were indifferent and unfriendly. Their only advice was to come to another session........no thank you

The volume is FAR too loud. Physically painful for myself and my Mum, and too loud for my Dad and he's registered deaf, even removing his hearing aids wasn't enough.
Won't be going back as I've been told by friends that this isn't an isolated event.
Staff not interested in doing anything to fix the issue.
At times during the film I could have fired an automatic rifle in there and no one would have noticed as the film was so loud.
Walked out after about half an hour, and my ears were still ringing 3 hours later.
Real shame because the cinema itself is really nice since the refurb, but from now on I'll stick to Red Rock.
IF you value your hearing, AVOID.

This is always my cinema of choice. I love that if you haven't got around to booking they will put you on a wait list!
The staff are helpful and friendly and it is such a help that the restaurants around it are quick and easy so you don't have to sit listening to loud munchers all around you - people have already eaten! I am allergic to those big multiplexes and love this special little cinema in the heart of Heaton Moor!

I am local to the cinema and had used it many times before the recent refurbishment and change in ownership. I was very pleased that it had been rescued and was looking forward to going again. However I haven't been in spite of trying on 3 occasions. Each time I have queued, waited behind people choosing their wines and refreshments and then finally informed that the venue is full. The message is that you have to book by phone beforehand so turning up spontaneously doesn't work. So as a long time local customer who always walked to the local cinema I feel cut out. Can't rate as still trying to get in.

Visited this beautifully renovated cinema for the first time in many years to see Star Wars with my family! The staff were warm and welcoming on arrival and the foyer was cosy compared to the cold and impersonal multiplex experience. I knew immediately we were in for a treat!
There was a better than normal selection of drinks at a more sensible price, popcorn, sweets and unusually delicious cake was available and it was lovely to be greeted by an "usher" and shown to our seats! All very classy and civilised.
We had booked two deluxe sofa seats (as its Christmas!) and I have never been so comfortable in a cinema before. The general layout is luxurious and spacious and we could all stretch out and relax in our almost private little snug which made for a very pleasant change! We even had a table to put our drinks on and cushions to snuggle into!
Even the children preferred it (their faces were a study) and requested to make it our regular cinema destination in the future so I think we will now become members!
The new owners deserve to make this a continued success and Stockport has gained a real gem in this refreshingly pleasant cinema.

Whilst I appreciate the effort that the new cinema owners have put into the new Savoy, I must agree with several reviews which point out what a shambles the foyer/ ticketing side of the operation is. The whole cinema experience is somewhat ruined when you are forced to queue out the main door and in the rain. If you go early ( 45 mins) to get your tickets, then you are forced to wait like sheep, in the hot, claustrophobic foyer area, until the door to the main auditorium is opened. Tickets can't be paid for over the phone, and you can't go in and pay in advance ...... you HAVE TO queue up on the night.... the owners say they want you to buy popcorn, and expensive drinks. Really not a very good system for 2015 .... the Savoy ticketing was way more advanced 50 years ago , when they had a dedicated ticket counter.

Don't bother unless you live within walking distance. I phoned - no answer, Checked website which was severely lacking in basic information.

I rocked up and was told the film I wanted to see was booked up and put on a wait queue. The staff were more interested in serving way over-priced wine than actually fitting us in.

And there was no IT - just a paper diagram of the seating area and some crosses behind the bar. After 20 minutes of waiting, I did a runner to the multiplex a mile away.

I would strongly advise them to update the website at least with a message 'We are liable to be full at some screenings please book by phone/web etc' But I didn't get there though.

As an ex-cinema manager in a small chain, I really wanted to enjoy the experience but frankly if they are this shoddy in basic organisation and IT back up , then they deserve all they get in a harsh marketplace.

Gorgeous, comfy, homely, yet classy inexpensive cinema. Perfect for families or just couples. Makes you want to visit more often because they are so friendly and helpful. Wine and popcorn's etc are reasonably priced. You feel like you have gone back in time but with truly lovely surroundings.
