A friend and I booked a night photography course with Paul. It was excellent. We both had experience in taking photos so we were not beginners. We learnt so much from Paul.He wears his considerable knowledge and skill very lightly and taught us in a really fun , informative and creative way. It was a cold and wet night in Manchester City centre - so it takes some skill as a teacher to make the time fly by. My photography definitely improved and will be more creative now. I would totally recommend this course and will definitely go on others.

I had a fantastic time on the iPhone photography course with Paul. He was extremely patient and knowledgable about the features of the phone’s camera. He took me around and showed me how to use the features in real time, as well as sending me a lot of example shots and tips by email after the session.
I would highly recommend any of his courses to anyone if they’re interested in photography, especially as a beginner.

Great value for a 1 on 1 full day photography lesson. Paul was very accommodating with my requests as we traipsed around town photographing different locations inside and out as I requested.
If you are looking for a more structured photography class this probably isn’t for you, but for a more casual session, Paul will be flexible to teach you what you need to know

From start to finish, I thought that the photography class was fantastic. I did the street film photography class and Paul really helped with explaining the theory and helping boost my confidence. Overall, I would highly recommend!

My second visit to MSP, this time to focus on portrait photography. Paul took us through a number of different lighting configurations, all designed to provide a range of varying outcomes. It was great to see the subtle tweaks needed to fine tune the results. A very enjoyable session, and learned loads … now time to put things into practice.

I was fortunate to be able to learn from Paul in a one-to-one tutorial for a whole day. His enthusiasm and expertise , together with his warm and friendly personality made for a really entertaining day at his studio.
As a beginner with a digital camera, he showed me techniques that were easy to emulate and broadened my artistic ideas.
This summer, our holiday was spent on Orkney, and I was amazed at the wildlife I could capture with my camera and new-found skills. Being able to take good photographs adds a new dimension to trips and holidays, it means you take a closer look at everything you visit. I even take a trip out with the sole intention of taking pictures of buildings/wildlife/landscapes.
I no longer have to have my digital camera on the Auto setting!
I would thoroughly recommend spending time on a course with Paul.

This course was a gift from my Wife after I'd complained about only being able to use our DSLR in 'automatic' mode.
Paul was fantastic, he took me through the basics of what you need too understand about a camera to use it properly in the first part of the session and then in the second half of the session we spent time outside putting the theory into practice.
It was a really enjoyable day, Paul is not only a great teacher he is great fun to spend time with.
Highly recommended.

I attended a few courses - learning to shoot in Manual mode, Architecture Photography, Landscape Photography, Night Photography, studio Portrait Photography and also how to use Photoshop & Lightroom.
Each course was great fun, very easy to learn because the teaching is inspirational. Paul is obviously an excellent photographer, but als a very good teacher, who doesn’t hold back on sharing all of his techniques. Very approachable and friendly, and nothing too much trouble - he teaches with patience, and by the time you leave, you not only leave with skills that will last you a lifetime, but also with the enthusiasm to keep learning more. I’ve also been able to do photography professionally since attending these courses, and feel that Paul has been very supportive throughout.
If you’re thinking of attending any of these courses, just do it. You won’t regret it.

This is my second course with Paul from Manchester School of Photography. This time I booked onto the night time photography course. It was a great night, I learnt so much from Paul. His creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm is boundless, the time just flew by. We ended up with some fabulous photos by the end of the night. I would highly recommend doing one of Paul’s courses. I’ll definitely be booking another course.

I’d recommend the Street art photography course. Paul is a great teacher, very patient, knowledgeable, fun and has loads of great advice on taking photos. I’ll be booking more courses with MSP
