I am not sure where to start to be honest, I had been looking forward to seeing Eric Ravilious' work for a while but when we arrived it was immediately clear that the exhibition was something special, maybe even a historically significant event as a rare collection had skilfully been brought together, maybe for the first and last time. The space, the building and the staff all make you want to stay far longer than you had planned and the small token entry fee seemed like the bargain of the century.

Afterwards I was inspired to climb to Adams Grave and take pictures of the White Horse and surrounding area which I wouldn't have done had I been anywhere else. My only complaint is that it is too far from my home in Oxfordshire, but I guess that the 1 hour journey is a small price to pay! I am now very much looking forward to exhibiting here myself in the future, the incredible privilege of which has just dawned on me following my visit to see Downland Man. I keenly look forward to future visits. -Hedley Thorne

I visited the museum and was very pleased with the experience. The reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The exhibits were very well laid out and easy to follow and access. I was particularly taken by the sections on the ancient monuments in Wiltshire. Having visited these sites many times, the museum gave an insight into them that I'd never before understood. It was fantastic and really brought them to life, although the whole place is really very goof. I have visited town museums all over the country and this was one of the best. Can't recommend it highly enough.

This museum was a perfect way to for a family to spend an hour or two. It has so much pertaining to the local area and some really fascinating exhibits. There's plenty to keep the children entertained, and the staff were really friendly and helpful

We visited the museum on our arrival in Devizes. We have been regular visitors to the sited around Stonehenge and Avebury for many years. The explanations as to the history of the monuments as changed a lot over my lifetime so an up to date description is invaluable. The museum is small but very well laid out and all very informative. A good idea to visit the museum before visiting the sites.

This is my favourite museum! I always come back to visit when I'm in the area, and I never get bored of seeing all the amazing prehistoric artefacts on display. The museum contains the best Bronze Age collection in the UK, and is well worth a visit. It is worth taking your time to read everything, as a lot of the objects originate from the Stonehenge World Heritage Site, and therefore culturally and archaeologically important to Wiltshire and the UK. It also contains great objects from other prehistoric periods, the Romans and the middle ages too. Looks can be deceiving, it does look small in from the outside, but once you're inside, it is huge. Definitely worth and visit, and it is also halfway in between the prehistoric sites of Avebury and Stonehenge.

This was our first time going to this museum and hope to come again if in area.

The receptionist was kind, jolly and helpful.

There are lots of rooms full of exhibits from various ages such as the Romans or Iron age.

There are interactive things for little ones such as dressing up boxes and puzzles.

I have visited the Wiltshire Museum on many occasions to hear talks on many aspects of archaeology. In conjunction with the work at Stonehenge this museum has remodelled all of its prehistoric gallery. And what a job they have made of it. Some museums which have spent a lot of money and had 'the designers in' to display just a few selected items in a so called "artful manner". This museum has not gone down this display path. There is a clear chronological pattern to the display from Palaeolithic times to historical times. Most of all there is an abundance of well presented associated artefacts from key sites relating to different periods. The cabinets are full of wonderful stone flint pottery gold amber faience jet bone and metal objects. All clearly labelled often linking to one or two key sites and supported by useful summary boards/videos that place the items in context, I spent two hours just going through the prehistoric display and had only reached the Earl Bronze Age. An absolute delight. Well done.

The museum is well organised to be covid safe - the only downside is that you don't go through completely chronologically, but it doesn't matter as each area is very well explained. Had a fabulous time. There is so much to see that you can't take everything in so that is an excellent excuse to go back. Much bigger than it looks from the outside. Totally recommended.

A small museum in a small town which punches above its weight. It is bigger than it deems once you get inside. Lots to see, succinctly written up. Do look out for it if you are visiting Devizes.

What a lovely welcome I received in this tiny museum in delightful Devizes! I had driven a long way to see this special exhibition but it was really worth it. I was lucky, Ann-Marie was there and she took me around explaining the themes and techniques she had used. She has taken four artefacts from the four Wessex museums and and interpreted them in the most wonderful way in her art. The pictures will tour the other museums and they are all for sale. Very tempting!
