It's small, dirty... Not much there. Didn't feel safe. Drive 30 minutes to Playa Hermosa and don't waste your time.

This is the pacific, so no white beach over here. But the beach is fairly clean and flat so conducive to take a nice walk. Waves are small, no surfing over here. You will have to go to nearby beaches. The water is surprisingly fairly cold. When I was there, the beach was not crowded, got a little bit busier... More

The beach/bay is beautiful, but this is a "working" area right in town. the beach itself is not a great place to play in the sand or surf given the direct sewer run-off from the rapidly growing SJDS, the roving stray dogs, people trying to sell stuff and boats coming and going all the time. It is not a bad... More

This little bay is a jewel on the southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua. Unfortunately the sewage draining into it from the town, the trash that people carelessly throw on the beach and the proximity of the boats docked in the bay, make it less inviting for a swim. Fortunately, there are a number of other little beaches that are cleaner... More

The beach right in town is not really attractive for swimming, you need to go north or south but most hostels offer shuttles to the other beaches so that was easy.

Nice beach, nice area to wander and search and take photos from the top. To climb to Jesus is not as long or hard as it might seem. Give it a go.

I am from el salvador and we have nice beach-party towns around here but sjds has beaten us. Just go and experience it. Parties, great surfing (playa maderas), one night stands, cool bars, nice people

Beach is great to chill during the day. Water is not the cleanest. Had my sandals stolen one night on the beach

The sewer water running into the beach and sand ultimately polluting the bay After heavy rain murky sewage seems to go untreated into the bay Saw only locals swimming during my stay
