Besides the overprice, Staff do different stuff with the transport: don't follow the time schedule, change rules - one day we could go to a beach, the other not.

I believe I paid $16/night for a bed in a 4-bed dorm with AC and private bath. The AC was a necessity and the private bath, a luxury for me. There were only 2 other people in my room, a lovely couple. I couldn't have asked for a better stay. Also included were free yoga class(2 classes offered per day) and free breakfast. The breakfast was edible. I know there are different standards and etiquette in each country and while I appreciated the kitchen staff wearing hair nets, plastic gloves or using utensils instead of picking up my french toast and fruit with bare hands to transfer to my plate. I still ate it, lol. It was edible. The breakfast changes each morning which is great. I left so early my 2nd morning, I didn't get breakfast. I heard the pancakes were really good. The coffee was not good, undrinkable really. Don't worry though, there is a great coffee shop down the block with amazing Vietnamese ice coffee for $2 and worth it!! Casa Oro's location was great, central to all the bars, restaurants, shops, etc. Wifi was good. Power went out here and there but always came back on. It seemed to be fairly new, clean, crisp white cheers on the bed. Privacy curtains for each bunk and good size lockers under the bottom bunk. Bathroom was clean although I don't think it was cleaned the 3 days I was there, as the garbage basket was never emptied the whole time. Can get a little loud but that doesn't bother me. You can just pop in headphones and zone it out. Overall it's one of the top hostels I've stayed in. Probably the best hostel in San Juan del Sur. They book up so def book ahead! Enjoy!!!

Case Oro was very responsive to my emails since it was the only reason for me to go to San Juan del Sur (not a surfer). The tour starts with a lecture about the turtles before you get on a very bumpy ride to turtlebeach. In order not to disturb the turtles too much the guide hands out red lights and everyone is kindly asked not to use the cameraflash. People who do it anyway are being reprimanded, which gives me the feeling turtles are priority. Which they should be! In season the guide will be able to show you the turtles and explain what they're doing. What an amazing and almost moving thing to watch!

We went to Casa Oro to have a shuttle for Playa Maderas. Gio service and the rest of the staff was great and helpful. Shuttles were super fun and on time!
