Buxingjie is being considered as one of the top Streets in HOTAN (HETIAN), JIE literally means STREET in Chinese., The street is broad and built by the Chinese Government; as most of the roads/ streets in XIJIANG are. Many shops and eateries around the area; and most of the establishments are managed by mainland Chinese. The shops sell most things from mainland China; and the eateries serve mainly Chinese food. For Uighar culture, one has to go to the outskirts where most of the Uighars operate.

Enjoy the silence and the beauty of Taklamakan desert. Go out for trekking with camels attented by a camel man and the local guide Kurban. He is very friendly and speaks brilliant English. It is fun and interesting to listen to his stories. You can not only book a Taklamakan desert trip with him but tours through whole Xinjiang as well.
As for the desert trip I recommend to spend there at least one night. It is amazing to experience dusk and dawn beneath the sand dunes, having dinner and breakfast and watch the stars.
Contact Kurban as following:

Our guide in Hotan, Xinjiang province, was Kurbanjan, a native of the region and an
experienced guide. Kurban is trilingual, and consequently a perfect mediator between
English-speaking visitors and the Uighur and Han populations.
In additiion to being a knowledgeable source of information about the cultures of
Xinjiang, Kurban drove to numerous places of interest to us, including a silk-
producing facility. We found him patient with us, and a pleasure to be with. Without
Kurban to help us, we could not have managed to purchase train and airline tickets
to subsequent destinations, since not only do the agents not speak English, but the
crowds of people at the ticket office would have defeated us.
Kurban organizes and leads tours of various kinds, whether to the desert or to traditional crafts producers, and knows his way around Xinjiang. We recommend him highly.
