- S9037XOmarybHollidaysburg, Pennsylvania19 contributionsGreat for families. What a wonderful experience for the young and old alike. Just a short ride into the country then stopping at a lovely festive area. Every one can take one pumpkin, enjoy a free cookie and apple cider. Go through a maze, have your face painted, bowl with a pumpkin and have your photo taken. So much fun. The staff, from checking in, on the train and at the park, were all very nice!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 9, 2023
- Tina56403Johnstown, Pennsylvania107 contributionsFun For AllI took my grandkids on this for a Sunday afternoon and it was so fun. Great gift shop at the train station. The scavenger hunt added to the fun. These train stops at a pumpkin patch and everyone gets a pumpkin. Great photo opps and cookies and cider.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 9, 2023
- Richard M1 contributionPretty close to time travelIf you want a great family trip this is the place to go, we had a man name Bob on our train car that was on his 90th birthday and the whole car sang happy birthday. Had a fantastic time, will go back. All the staff were exceptional and very friendly.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 10, 2023
- RRGUY9Confluence, Pennsylvania99 contributionsFun steam train rideFun steam train ride from Holidaysburg to Martinsburg. The seats were very comfortable for the 2.5 hour trip. We purchased our tickets online and the procedure was seamless and easy (of course, there are the usual service fees, but that's everywhere now!) The ride itself was made very enjoyable by the intermittent, highly enlightening commentary presented by Max, our conductor. He's a gem! The property and train were lovely and clean and seasonally decorated. There was 1940s swing music played at a enjoyable level throughout the trip when Max wasn't narrating which added to the ambience without being annoying. The only downside were our fellow riders who tramped back and forth through the four cars continuously, slamming doors and shouting at each other as they attempted to take pictures, detracting from an otherwise pleasant trip.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 10, 2023
- john W4 contributionsRails and Ales October 2023The Rails and Ales trip was fantastic, Forbes Trail Brews were tasty and well-presented. We got to learn about the three different samples that were provided and able to purchase additional drinks. The atmosphere on the train was beautiful with fall decorations and the staff was attentive. Thanks to all for a great adventure.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 16, 2023
- Dan CHarrisburg, Pennsylvania3 contributionsGreat trip, great hostsSpectacular trip to the end of the line at Martinsburg, Pa. Beautiful scenes of the farms and mountains. Spotless station and cars. The 1920 steam locomotive No. 11 functioned flawlessly. Staff was uniformly friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. And focused on safety, like all good railroaders.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 17, 2024
- Pam f13 contributionsLove the Everett Railroad!Love the Everett Railroad experiences! Plus beautiful restoration of the cars! Most recently we took our littlest grandkids (boys) on the Superhero train. They had so much fun! The Superheroes and staff were so friendly! My only suggestion would be to add more heroes, we only had three. Also no stop or treats on this train. At this price, I think there should have been something like that. We’ve been on numerous trains with different themes and always enjoy!!Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 29, 2024
- David CCherry Tree, Pennsylvania15 contributionsEnjoyable visitA very enjoyable ride. Wonderfully restored steam locomotive and refurbished & comfortable passenger cars. Train & station staff were friendly and informative. Conductor offered fun & historic commentary along the trip. For extra reasonable charge ($13) bought pre-packaged lunch with drink & snacks in commemorative tote. Well worth it!Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 29, 2024
- david l1 contribution5 stars, 2 thumbs up!One of the very best historic train excursions I've been on. ALL the people (ticketing, gift shop, conductor, 'dining car', and train personnel) were absolutely wonderful. (and rest rooms?) Spotless. Our excursion featured on train beverages (beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks, and ice cream! I bought the extra/optional bag lunch and let me tell you, it was one of the very best cold cuts I've had in years. $13 for a 1/2 sub, chips, water, and a cookie all in a insulated carry bag branded with the RR. Excellent. I hope everyone's experience will be as good as mine on the 2 1/2 hr ride to Martinsburg, PA.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 28, 2024
- Paula MIrwin, Pennsylvania22 contributionsPicnic at the SpringsWe did the Picnic in the Park excursion. Lovely train ride through the countryside. Tiny little park with lots of lawn and a big pond full of ducks. Really nice to sit eat lunch and watch the ducks paddle around. They do sell snacks and beverages on board the train and there is an option to buy a box lunch from the railroad. However, you might want to bring your own food. (Jersey Mike’s is 5 miles down the road.) The park has a few benches, but no picnic tables so you might want to bring a blanket or your own chairs. Yes, you can bring a cooler (or two) and folding chairs on the train. We had the chairs-in-a-bag that sling over your shoulder. They fit nicely beneath our seats.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 3, 2024

Since we cancelled our beach trip,we decided to go on little trips for my birthday and this was one of them. It was our 1st time and was very nice and enjoyable with a little surprise ice cream treat when we stopped on the way back on the 3 hour trip. The staff was nice and answered all my questions and let people freely walk around the cars for the whole trip. We would like to go back again for the fall trip.

We took a fall ice cream excursion. We enjoyed the steam engine. The cars were well kept. The scenery was rural and hilly . The Ice Cream was welcome and gave us something to do besides just waiting in a tiny town while the train turned around and returned to pick us up.

Had a great time. The conductors were very friendly and knowledgeable. They came by numerous times throughout our excursion to see if everything was good and if we needed anything. They answered all questions that anyone might have had. Price was great and the train was beautiful!! We will definitely be back.

I surprised my train-loving boyfriend with a ride on the Santa Express. A good experience; easy to make reservations, friendly and helpful staff and a beautifully restored steam engine pulling early 1920 rail cars. A train lovers dream. And it was wonderful to watch the children on board when Santa came through to wish us all a Merry Christmas. A fun time.

We took the fall foliage train ride. It was a very nice 3-hour train ride. We have done many train rides throughout Pennsylvania. The one thing which would have made the ride more interesting was to have a recording play pr have someone give the history of the area we were traveling through. The leaves were just beginning to turn and what were turned were beautiful. The boxed lunch provided was delicious. The staff was very helpful and accommodating as my husband walks with the assistance of a walker. We couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise.

Our grandchildren just loved this train ride. They stood by the window and watched as we rode. My grandson said that he can now check a train ride off of his bucket list. Awesome memories at a reasonable price. Your train crew was fantastic and very personable.

The whole event was great! Easy to get tickets, the engineer let me get a picture of the cab for my 65th birthday. Kid friendly , Ice cream at Roaring Springs stop. I planned a Saturday trip to see the 2-6-0 mogul steam engine. Also have Santa express later in year. Some trips use a diesel so check .Warm June day ,enjoyed a whole lot. .
