- Dan CHarrisburg, Pennsylvania3 contributionsGreat trip, great hostsSpectacular trip to the end of the line at Martinsburg, Pa. Beautiful scenes of the farms and mountains. Spotless station and cars. The 1920 steam locomotive No. 11 functioned flawlessly. Staff was uniformly friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. And focused on safety, like all good railroaders.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 17, 2024
- Pam f13 contributionsLove the Everett Railroad!Love the Everett Railroad experiences! Plus beautiful restoration of the cars! Most recently we took our littlest grandkids (boys) on the Superhero train. They had so much fun! The Superheroes and staff were so friendly! My only suggestion would be to add more heroes, we only had three. Also no stop or treats on this train. At this price, I think there should have been something like that. We’ve been on numerous trains with different themes and always enjoy!!Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 29, 2024
- David CCherry Tree, Pennsylvania15 contributionsEnjoyable visitA very enjoyable ride. Wonderfully restored steam locomotive and refurbished & comfortable passenger cars. Train & station staff were friendly and informative. Conductor offered fun & historic commentary along the trip. For extra reasonable charge ($13) bought pre-packaged lunch with drink & snacks in commemorative tote. Well worth it!Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 29, 2024
- david l1 contribution5 stars, 2 thumbs up!One of the very best historic train excursions I've been on. ALL the people (ticketing, gift shop, conductor, 'dining car', and train personnel) were absolutely wonderful. (and rest rooms?) Spotless. Our excursion featured on train beverages (beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks, and ice cream! I bought the extra/optional bag lunch and let me tell you, it was one of the very best cold cuts I've had in years. $13 for a 1/2 sub, chips, water, and a cookie all in a insulated carry bag branded with the RR. Excellent. I hope everyone's experience will be as good as mine on the 2 1/2 hr ride to Martinsburg, PA.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 28, 2024
- Paula MIrwin, Pennsylvania22 contributionsPicnic at the SpringsWe did the Picnic in the Park excursion. Lovely train ride through the countryside. Tiny little park with lots of lawn and a big pond full of ducks. Really nice to sit eat lunch and watch the ducks paddle around. They do sell snacks and beverages on board the train and there is an option to buy a box lunch from the railroad. However, you might want to bring your own food. (Jersey Mike’s is 5 miles down the road.) The park has a few benches, but no picnic tables so you might want to bring a blanket or your own chairs. Yes, you can bring a cooler (or two) and folding chairs on the train. We had the chairs-in-a-bag that sling over your shoulder. They fit nicely beneath our seats.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 3, 2024
- Sochatai9 contributionsFun and beautiful ride! This was a fun ride! It went onto a different brach of the railroad thru some beautiful country. My only sort of complaint, is that the bathrooms were quite a walk from where the crossing from the parking lot is. There are very few decent places to stop for a bathroom on the way there. The lunch that was purchased from the railroad, was good. The passenger cars are very nice and comfortable.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 16, 2024
- Phylly MPennsylvania495 contributionsDefinitely a great train rideThis is our first time to the Everett Railroad. We made the reservations two days ahead of time and were very fortunate to get on the Sunday train. The ride took us through fields and small towns.( I think property owners should decorate their yards for the season so the train passengers can see the decor as the train goes by) . Many people were waving and taking photos as the train went by. Try to get down there at least an hour and a half ahead of time so you can take pictures of the steam train getting into position. I thought this ride was fabulous. It was 2 1/2 hours.. The inside of the rail cars have been beautifully remodeled locally and music of the big band plays inside of the cars. The seats are comfortable, there is plenty of legroom, and you can open the windows of the train if you choose to do so. You can purchase snacks on the train. They have local bakery products, snacks, alcoholic drinks, and non-alcoholic drinks. Make sure, you go into the train station to have your tickets printed. The conductor will come through and take the ticket from you. The trains are very nostalgic. Hopefully we get an opportunity to return next year. You’ll love it !!!!Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 28, 2024
- robert w1 contributionNice day, with a suggestionA very nice way to spend an enjoyable hour with our six- and two year old grandsons. Only shortcoming was that getting your Santa Train treats of cocoa and cookies when you pick up tickets was not mentioned by the ticket agent. I thought snacks would be handed out on the train so I didn't ask about it. I saw no signs to explain snacks. We went to board the train and saw other riders with cocoa and snacks. When we asked where they got them, we were told they are available at a building next to the ticket office. So we carted the little boys back to where we started, working against the flow of traffic. The little boys were pretty frazzled by this. Better communication would have avoided this problem.Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 20, 2024

Fun steam train ride from Holidaysburg to Martinsburg. The seats were very comfortable for the 2.5 hour trip. We purchased our tickets online and the procedure was seamless and easy (of course, there are the usual service fees, but that's everywhere now!) The ride itself was made very enjoyable by the intermittent, highly enlightening commentary presented by Max, our conductor. He's a gem! The property and train were lovely and clean and seasonally decorated. There was 1940s swing music played at a enjoyable level throughout the trip when Max wasn't narrating which added to the ambience without being annoying. The only downside were our fellow riders who tramped back and forth through the four cars continuously, slamming doors and shouting at each other as they attempted to take pictures, detracting from an otherwise pleasant trip.

My family and I rode the Pumpkin Patch Train. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and everyone was so accommodating! We took our 10 year old granddaughter and our 2 year old grandson. They both enjoyed it so much. I am handicapped and use a walker and was able to walk easily to the train and the conductor put my walker on the train and returned it to me when I got off. The train took us to the pumpkin patch where the kids got their pumpkins, cookies and drinks. There is a nice little gift shop where they were able to get Everett Railroad sweatshirts and they sell roasted nuts as your walking to the train. We can’t wait to go back for another ride!

The Rails and Ales trip was fantastic, Forbes Trail Brews were tasty and well-presented. We got to learn about the three different samples that were provided and able to purchase additional drinks. The atmosphere on the train was beautiful with fall decorations and the staff was attentive.
Thanks to all for a great adventure.

Our trip consisted of constant loud screeching noises from the old train cars rubbing against each other non-stop. You couldn't talk with anyone, it gave us all headaches. The views along the way are just sad. You can't even see the beauty of the mountains, our drive there was way more scenic. If you're looking for a torturous train trip instead of a place that cares about your experience, then this is the place for you. I would highly recommend going somewhere where they actually care about your experience you're paying for. I recommend mountainrailwv or Cuyahoga RR. The views are to die for, the customer service is just what you'd expect for am experience of a "train ride of old."
If you need customer support on the phone- you are yelled at and told we don't care and we absolutely give no refunds. Buyer beware.

I bought tickets for the Santa train. The day we were supposed to go there was a winter storm. The highway I would have to take was closed to tier 1, 2, and 3 vehicles at the time we would have had to leave. It was still open to cars but the 2 inches of ice we had at my house under the snow and the restrictions on the highway made me feel it was unsafe to drive in. Especially as the wintery conditions would be continuing through the night and we were under a warning until the next morning. I called to ask about a refund telling them that my local snow plow driver had told me they were probably going to close roads and was told that unless the train doesn't run they would not offer one.
I understand not refunding in cases where people just change their minds or what have you, but I feel dangerous driving conditions should be an exception. Penn State closed as well as numerous businesses in my town (including the place I work at). My daughter and I were both super excited about riding the train and were upset we couldn't go. If the situation had been handled differently on their part I may have considered purchasing tickets at a later date when weather conditions wouldn't prevent me from traveling there.

We took our kids on The Santa Express. It was a great experience and enjoyable atmosphere. Lots of helpful, smiling staff and Santa was great too. Free hot chocolate and cookies to enjoy on the train was a bonus! A professional photographer took pictures of each group and offered prints for sale at the end. We all had a nice time!

Train was really great- steam engines are well worth preserving. Getting tickets on line was easy to do. Train ride was very well organized. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The Ice Cream Special was fun with ice cream served at the halfway point at Roaring Spring Depot. The train cars were well preserved and clean.
My only idea to improve would be to have the trip narrated. It would be great for someone to be talking about the engine, the departure town history and a few stories about the route, including info on the roaring spring area history. There is not a lot of great scenery along the way, so a good humorous speaker would be a great addition.

We rode the train to the Morrison Cove Ag Parade June 29. The train left on time. The cars were clean and beautifully restored. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. They brought cold bottled water to the seats for those who wanted to purchase it for only $1. The scenery between Roaring Spring and Martinsburg was truly breathtaking. The RR arranged for bleachers for us to watch the parade from. We also enjoyed free pizza at the parade the RR arranged for. The return trip left on time and arrived back at Hollidaysburg ahead of schedule.

As an old rail buff I like the steam engines of yester years and very nostalgic to me. We went for a wedding in Altoona, PA and found out about the operation of this last weekend. It is a short 1 hr round trip ride but wonderful experience specially if you do not want to spend too much time. There are lot of good photographing opportunities of the engine. The trail is similar to the first third of the Durango-Silverton or any West Virginia (Cass/ Greenbrier ) type. The Crew is wonderful and so are the support staff.
If you are from any of the east cost area looking for a short break with children or quite time alone at a value price this may be your quick get away.
