About
Tröegs Brewing Company was founded by Chris and John Trogner. Since 1997, the brothers have been handcrafting world-class beers that combine traditional English brewing techniques with the eclecticism of new American brewing. While only available in the Mid-Atlantic region, Tröegs Brewery is known nationwide for their award-winning Troegenator Double Bock, highly-desirable seasonal releases like Nugget Nectar and The Mad Elf, and brewery-only beers like the Scratch and Splinter series. Tröegs Brewery in Hershey, Pennsylvania provides guests with a complete brewing experience. The brewhouse is located in a 5,000 square foot tasting room that opens onto a beer garden. Visitors are able to observe the brewing process firsthand, and take a self-guided tour along a window-lined hallway for a close-up view of the entire brewery.

It pains me to rate one of my favorite breweries with 3 stars but I'll tell you why: the kids and the crowds. Troegs has some of the best beer in the area. The food is great, too. The problem recently with Troegs is how parents abuse the "all ages" policy. I'm talking we rarely, as locals to the Hershey area, go to Troegs anymore because of the kids climbing all over everything, the soccer teams taking up 15+ seats, parents just allowing their kids to run around the brewery, etc. I'm all for families enjoying themselves but Troegs just seems to become a playground for some reason. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way either.
The brewery can no longer accommodate the crowds it draws in. Which, hey, good for them, they are doing great business. But if you get a parking spot, you're lucky and that's only half the battle. You have to hover around the brewery for a seat most days. Its stressful and a headache. Especially if you have over 4 people. Get there early or go at a "slow time," if there even is a slow time anymore. I hope one day there is a remedy to this because we love Troegs; just not the crowds. Normally anymore, we run into the gift shop, grab beer, and go elsewhere for food.

...and if that weren’t enough, the place is ridiculously overpriced as well.
I’m struggling to find anything positive about this place after our family experience there. Maybe the best I can say is that everybody in the place cheers each time a waiter drops a glass and shatters it. The environment is lighthearted and fun that way, but overall this was an abysmal and expensive mistake for our family dinner.
The grilled cheese is more like a $12 bread sandwich that didn’t even come with fries or chips. The strawberry salad was practically inedible. And the only other appetizing options happened to be on the kids’ menu, so they were off-limits for us. Many, many better choices in Hershey.
PS The beer in this place—their supposed specialty—tastes like dirt. If you like that, go for it. If not, go someplace else.

We were in Hershey for business and my husband has been wanting to go here. We fell in love. He said it was by far his favorite brewery he has been to and we have hit a ton. Great environment and love the smell of the mash cooking. Let's talk about the food...damn is it good. Everything we had was amazing but the pork belly appetizer stole the show. We love it so much we went back a week later when in town again for business. We had already tried another place for dinner and had regretted not going there again to eat. The rules that you have to order food with your alcohol to prevent from getting covid from only drinking a beer is suspect. We went from a place that .50 cent bag of chips is considered fine with your beverage but you can't order the $5 popcorn at Troeg's but you can buy the $11 soft pretzel and you are good...okay. Covid sucks but Troeg's doesn't. My husband loved it so much he had to take a case of beer home with him.

This place is always packed so we decided to give it a try. I understand that it's at limited capacity due to Covid. However, we did not have a good experience at all. We joined the wait list on-line and then when we got there had to go on another wait list to enter the store. Once our table was ready we asked if we can sit inside and they said "no, we need to put you where we have room". Ok, so we proceeded outside. We were already hot and tired from being at the park all day, our table was the only table directly in the sun with no fan over us, like the other tables. On top of that, our waiter DJ was HORRIBLE. We felt like he couldn't be bothered with us but was bending over backward for other tables. Thank goodness for Eric who saw we were dying in the sun and came over and got our check for us. The only good part of this restaurant. Menu was also nothing great, I'm guessing limited due to Covid. Don't wast your money. We went to Iron Hill Brewery the next day and it was a thousand times better than this overrated place!

We were warmly greeted at the door; however, that was the best of the visit. We’ve sat down at the bar and have not been greeted there for more than 30 minutes. No one came by to check with us to see if we needed service. The bartender was busy chit chatting with another patron and totally ignored us. More than one employee had walked by and didn’t even asked if we needed anything. This place by far had the worst customer service of the many breweries we’ve visited in PA. The beer is ok. Stop by Iron Hill Brewery for better service and good beer is my opinion.

Awesome food and outstanding beer. The food here is always top notch and it's great to get beer directly from the place it's made. We ordered the dill pickle fried chicken (it's 5 pieces of perfectly breaded chicken, 2 sourdough biscuits, house made pickle chips and dipping sauces), grilled cheese on huge sourdough bread with a small side of tomato soup, tempura cauliflower (soogy, but good) and 4 beers. Due to covid, you no longer order at the snack bar and then go to the bar to order your beer. They have people going from table to table to get your order, bring you your food and take drink ordered. We actually prefer it that way. It was less stressful and made for a nice, relaxing time. We were there on a Thursday and when we left around 5:30pm there was already a wait for tables. It's a super popular place and we love visiting. They also have a well stocked, clean shop to purchase Troegs merchandise, beer and to go food items. The brewery is also right next to some outlet shopping. We wish we lived closer because we would definitely visit more often!

This is our First time visiting, and we will always return when in the area. The choices of ales, pilsners, etc are amazing; they serve various sizes for sampling or just enjoying. The food is well priced ($8-$16) and very tasty; nothing is "standard" fare. They also have a shop for apparel or (more importantly) their brews.
COVID-era social distancing and concern is very evident and well-managed by the staff.

Nice post park visit. Open, airy - good for our large group and kids. Menu is a little strange but we all found things we liked (I really enjoyed the hummus & popcorn!). Beer just tastes better right from there.

We stopped in here after the RV show based on a recommendation from a friend. She raved about the food. Prices were a bit high for just a sandwich but to be expected at this sort of venue and we don't mind paying for good grub. My husband ordered the pulled pork, I went for the chicken salad wrap. Unfortunately, both were terrible. My chicken salad was drowning in some sort of sickening sweet, runny dressing and hubby's pulled pork had a weird off flavor. We can't speak to the beer as we didn't order any of that, but if you want something to eat, pass this place by.

First of all, I have gone here many times. Love the beer and love the food downstairs. Problem is we went on a Friday for their pizza upstairs. Was underwhelmed. Though the crust was decent, they really need to up their game in making a great artisan pizza. It just tasted like a mediocre mall pizza. Also to try to liven it up, I asked for some Parmesan cheese and dried hot peppers. The looked at me like I had two heads. The had none, no apologies, just blank stares. Pathetic when you are serving pizza. Hopefully, Troegs is reading these reviews and they make their pizza service as good as their other food and beverages.

Yes, you would be able to take children as it is a large place with family style seating. The grill and bar area are separate lines though which can be a wait if it's busy.

No they do not, I would get there early if you have a large party.

I understand that you need to be 21 years of age for the guided tour. Does that mean that you can not have an infant harnessed to you on the tour?
Written August 31, 2016
Not sure if you can take an infant on the tour due to the equipment. There is a self-guided tour that you can do and take the baby in with you. Please note you must wear closed toe shoes.

Not exactly certain why someone is asking for the calorie count of Propel on TripAdvisor, but I happen to have one in my hand at this moment and the calorie count per bottle is 0.

I'm planning a visit and would like to know how to make arrangements for the Guided Tasting Tour? Is there a charge? What if you don't drink?
Written June 13, 2016
Yes there is a charge book online ahead of time. There is also a free tour but i would recommend doing the other one and you get a glass at the end. If you don't drink they have other beverages & the food is always fresh and delicious. :)

Are children permitted in the brewery with parents who would like to dine?
Written May 14, 2015
