This place is amazing!! I had originally only purchased "make your own candy bar" and we decided to add on "Unwrapped." We spent over 4 hours here and we could have spent so much more time!

The make your own candy bar wasn't exactly what I had expected, but when it comes down to it, they need to keep everything simple and moving. My boys ( 8&6) absolutely loved it. They loved being able to select what they wanted and to watch it be made. It was really neat to see it all done. They even got to design their own candy bar wrapper which was really neat too. It's a little pricey, but my husband and I believed that it was totally worth it.

We added on Unwrapped because my boys saw that you tasted candy. I believe this cost us around $60 for 2 adults and 2 kids. My husband thought that it was over priced, which it was, but it's also Hershey so I didn't expect it not to be. My 6 year old loved this! He said that it was his favorite part. The "teacher" was very quirky. The candy wasn't anything different, it was mini but it made you slow down and not just shove candy in your mouth and move on. If you have younger children, I think that they would enjoy it more, my 8 year old said it was ok.

The tour was awesome! We didn't do this until right before we left, but it was so neat! You walk and get to read alot of history about the company, and then you get on a moving car and it brings you through and breaks the factory down for you and teaches you. At the end you receive a mini size Hershey bar. It was great! Singing cows, and Hershey Kisses etc, cute and my boys loved this!!

We of course had to try some food as well. My youngest got a kitkat smore ($9) a birthday cake shake ($8) the shake was very sweet, definitely for young kids, the smore was also good and huge! We also got 2 jolly rancher slushies ($5 each) a pineapple and blue raspberry both delicious, and we purchased a pretzel ($14) at first a $14 pretzel stopped us in our tracks, but it was HUGE! Fed all 4 of us easily, and comes with chocolate, cheese and a honey mustard. Ends up being well worth it.

We walked away with so much chocolate and candy! Prices were not terribly expensive, and actually cheaper than Amazon on a lot of the items.

They also have pressed pennies in a few different places. My husband loves these, and they weren't expensive either!

We loved it here, I wish that we had done some more of the activities but with it being the holiday weekend everything sold out very quickly, we were lucky to be able to add on Unwrapped for the same day.

Our boys didn't want to leave. Masks were not required for vaccinated individuals, in case you were wondering about that as well.

Make sure you take your time here and enjoy it!

We were nearby on our way home from a Gettysburg day trip and decided to refresh our home stash of chocolate. We got to the parking entrance gates and learned we had to go online to get free entrance tickets which were being spaced time apart to avoid overcrowding during covid. It was a bit confusing but filling out form was easy and we had virtually no wait even though we filled out the form once we got to the entrance. It was a sunny April day and lots of people were outdoors. It was not jam packed inside but there were a lot of people. We felt safe shopping and loaded up on lots of our favs. They had a ton of new snack items and new Hershey merch. I bought some comfortable pajama pants and we got an excellent deal on bulk sized chocolates, about $8 cheaper than Sam’s Club and the chocolate tasted fresh. We didn’t do the free tour but we were surprised there was no line at all for this. I remember many times waiting in lines that snaked through the whole building waiting over an hour.

We’ve been to Hershey’s Chocolate World before, so we knew what to expect (massive quantities of candy and logo merchandise, bakery, ice cream, etc.). However, this was the first time we did the Create Your Own Candy Bar activity, and we all really enjoyed it (especially the kids). It’s a little on the expensive side, but it’s really a one of a kind experience and so much fun to pick your base (milk, white, dark) and fillings, watch your bar being made, and design your own label. We purchased the package that included the 4D movie, and I’d probably skip that unless you have younger kids—all of us, including my 9 year old, thought it was a little too cheesy.

We had purchased tickets to the trolley ride ahead of time for a Sunday ride at 3:45 PM. We waited 6 feet apart social distancing to get onto the trolley. However once on the trolley I became aware that there was NO windows that could open. I took this tour as I believed there would be some adequate ventilation. The trolley rep asked people to sit in specific Seats to aid in social distancing. However it became aware that the people did not listen and sat where they wanted and no one said anything about this situation. There was a couple next to us only about 10 inches apart across the aisle. Thankfully they were wearing masks. Yet some people when I made a brief survey had pulled their masks down. ! The rep should certainly have reinforced the rulings One young adolescent did not have a mask at all. Nothing was said prior to or during the ride. I wished I had got off but all this became apparent once the ride was well underway. I saw this as a dangerous situation! Yes people did have their temperature taken upon entrance to the entire area but about 50% of us are asymptomatic! There were several people like myself who were seniors on the enclosed trolley. I felt as though I was on an airplane. I have called twice and written an email but to date no one has addressed my concerns. The ride itself was a bit interesting but instead of over an hour long Could have been limited to about half that time. If you go during the pandemic times , I would avoid this at all costs.

This review is about Chocolate World’s customer service and admission process.

Looking forward to the trolley tour my husband and I arrived and were surprised to see two massive parking lots filled with cars. One lot for the amusement park. The other for Chocolate World. We followed a solid line of traffic to a gate where we were handed a post card and pointed toward the Chocolate World lot. As my 80 year-old husband drove around looking for an available parking space (we saw no sign for handicapped parking), I read the card. It said that we needed to make a timed entry reservation by scanning a QR code before we approached the building.

Their first mistake is in assuming that seniors will have a cell phone. Their second mistake is in assuming that even those seniors with a cell phone will know how to use it to scan a code. I gave up and decided we would present ourselves at the door and make them deal with us. We followed a stream of people walking toward the building. The closer we got, we could see that the waiting line was miles long! Without a reservation, no sign to point us toward a ticket line, and being unable to stand in long lines, we decided that a 20-minute trolley tour was not worth the hassle it appeared we would have to face. Disappointed, we returned to our car and left.

Had we stayed and continued to the door perhaps everything would have worked out. But nothing encouraged us to do that. The number of people and length of line was overwhelming. Better printed instructions, better signage, and an option for non-tech seniors to get help purchasing tickets upon arrival at the parking lot gate is needed.

A very large candy store and more. The Factory tour ride is free and fun. As you travel along a narrator explains the candy making process as each step is shown on the screens. The create your own candy bar is worth the extra bump especially for the kids. You pick out the chocolate and the fillings and watch as it is made right before your eyes. At the end you get to design your own wrapper and the staff packages it for you.

We visited Hershey Park for Halloween this year. Unfortunately, there was some rain on Sunday so I splurged and bought a few extras. If I had planned a little better I would have bought a bundle and saved a few bucks.
Chocolate World itself is free, but you do need to reserve a time to visit. However, when we got there they told us they didn’t need to see anything, to just go ahead. It was not crowded so that may have had something to do with it.
To pass some time we took the trolley tour. That was about an hour and all 6 of us, ages 9-48, found at least some, if not all of it, interesting. There was a historical perspective to it so if you like history, you will enjoy it. Our 4 kids each learned something.
Finally, the highlight - make your own chocolate bar. The website doesn’t given a lot of info so I will share what we learned. It is definitely expensive, but when you see what they get beyond the experience, it seems more worth it. You check in and get hairnets and paper aprons and gloves. Them you select what type of filling you want: white, dark or milk and you choose up to 3 of 6 extras like cookies crumble, rice crisps, toffee etc. They show you the bar being made and while it cools, you design the cover. You can choose from templates or customize it. You watch it get packaged. Each person gets a pretty large custom bar in a silver tin. Then they cover goes on the outside of the tin. It’s a unique keepsake or a great thing to make as a custom souvenir to bring home for someone. Our kids are between 9-15 and they all loved it. Overall, I’d say it took a little over half an hour. If you want to spend the extra $26 or so, it’s worth it.

We have stopped here many times when we are traveling; or after a day at the park and everytime we are glad that we stopped.

The line to get onto the Chocolate World Ride can vary depending on the day and on this time the line wasn't as bad as it has been in the past. Even with the long line it's worth it. The entire ride tells you about how chocolate is made, they take a photo of you at the end and hand out a small piece of chocolate as you are heading down the stairs into the main area.

Once you have finished the ride there are lots of things to take advantage of; personally we like the ice cream shop and get a milkshake they are delicious. The candy selection is also one that we like to browse through; you can find really neat gifts for people you can't always find in stores.

Overall, if you are able to do this I would recommend it, even if you aren't going into the park there is a special parking lot for just Chocolate World and you can park for free for 2 hours. We have three small children and every time we got they love it.

Customer service is horrible. They lack knowledge of the products they’re selling. No knowledge of allergy facts.
Make your own chocolate attraction is over priced.
Must make appointment ahead of time for make your own chocolate , otherwise you will be waiting in the lobby for two hours and pay $15 for parking.
The entertainment was boring and the store items were extremely expensive. Options for people with food allergies are limited.
The experience was not what my kids and my family expected.

This rating and review is about Chocolate World’s customer service and admission process.

Looking forward to the trolley tour my husband and I followed a solid line of traffic to a gate where we were handed instructions on a post card and pointed toward Chocolate World parking. Surely they must have handicapped parking, but we saw no sign for it and nothing had been explained at the gate. My 80 year-old husband drove into the huge lot already filled with cars, looking for an available parking space in one of the first few rows hoping we’d see the handicapped section but we never did. We did eventually snag the parking spot of someone leaving in the 4th or 5th row.

I read the postcard instructions which were minimal. The card explained that we needed to make a timed entry reservation by scanning a QR code before we could enter the building. Chocolate World assumes that everyone will have a cell phone. Okay, sure, I have a cell phone. But Chocolate World also assumed that I would know what a QR code is and know how to scan it. That was a step too far for this old couple. I gave up and decided we would present ourselves at the door and make them deal with us.

Leaving the car, we didn’t see any signs. We followed a stream of people walking toward a brick building. The closer we got, we could see mile long waiting lines. Already overwhelmed by the long parking lot walk and having been given no idea what to expect, we stopped walking and assessed the situation. If all of these people already had a reservation and we did not, how long would we be forced to wait for a trolley tour if we ever did reach someone to help us? Knowing we would be unable to stand in a long line, we decided that a 20-minute tour was not worth the hassle it appeared it was going to be. Disappointed but grateful we didn’t have grandchildren with us, we returned to our car and made another guy very happy when we backed out of our parking space.

Maybe, if we had kept going it would have worked out. But there was nothing to encourage us to go forward and we weren’t willing to risk using so much of our energy to find out.

My only advice to visitors is prepare before you go and expect chaos. There will be about a zillion people here and most of them will be under the age of 12.

To Chocolate World: Signage, better printed instructions, a warm and welcoming gatekeeper who does more than thrust a postcard in your hand and point you to the proper parking lot, and a separate line at the gate for those who need help getting tickets is needed. This place is obviously a cash cow. Spend some of those profits so that your customers feel less like herded cattle.
